I am animated, clever, and driven.

My Self-Summary

So only people who watched the show are really going to get this, but think of Daria's inner monologue in someone who's outwardly upbeat. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about... I see irony all over the place and I don't shy away from sarcasm, but I'm a nice, happy person if you can take a bit of dry humor.

I go to OSU and am a converted Buckeye fan for life, football season is one of my favorite times of the year. I used to be a cheerleader, so that whole energy and pep thing sorta stuck with me.

I like indie/alternative music and The Shins and Beck are my favorites. I'm originally from Chicago so I love the Cubs and the cold.

Oh and one more thing... I have the attention span of a fish (about 2 seconds) if I don't find you interesting to begin with.

Edit:Ok so in reading this I realized that the above paragraphs are mostly bullshit. So here it goes.

I'm loud when talking about a subject I'm passionate about. I have an unhealthy addiction to new shoes, preferably stiletto's. I could sit down and watch sports all day if I had the time; I could do the same for texas hold 'em. Although, honestly, if I could get a big enough group of people together, I'd rather be playing than watching. I sing to myself all the time, except in the shower.

I LOVE wearing men's button-up shirts... they're so damned comfortable! I'm terribly self-conscious though I'm generally pretty good at hiding it. I am happy and bubbly most of the time, even when I'm being sarcastic.

I trust easily until that trust is lost, and then it's nearly impossible to get it back. I eat quickly unless it's something worth savoring, in which case, I'll be damned if I let you rush me. I smile at most people walking by and I wave to little kids. I coo and aww when I see something cute and then make fun of myself for it in the next instant.

I'm a competetive SOB and unapologetic about it (until I win, in which case, you did a great job too!). If I'm in the right mood, I could swear enough to make a sailor blush. I'm a touchy-feely person; I hug, I kiss cheeks, I hook arms, and if you don't like it, that's too damned bad.

I am lost without a goal to achieve. I want to see the world, beyond the eyes of a tourist. I don't read for myself as much as I used to/want to. I watch reality TV because I'm astounded at the things some people will do for their 15 minutes of fame. I don't believe silence has to be uncomfortable. I spoil myself only when I've worked hard enough to deserve it.

I want to understand everything around me. I will never stop learning. I know the meaning of the number 42. Politics, and more specifically, foreign policy, is my life. If you can't keep up a political conversation with me, I'm not going to waste my time on you. I aspire to be Dagny Taggart.

What I’m doing with my life

Finally finally finally back in Columbus and back at the ever-wonderful Ohio State University!! I'm a double major in Poli Sci and Intel Sec... if you don't know what they mean then you have no idea what I want to do with my life. If you're curious, then feel free to ask. I also have been taking Hebrew after having two fantastic experiences in Israel, trying to figure out what exactly it means to be Jewish.

I’m really good at

remembering really obscure facts, doing point-counterpoint in a political debate, research (it's nerdy, but I looooooove learning about new things), recognizing people's faces, getting lost in a book or movie, writing speeches, and anything arts & craftsy

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know what the first thing people notice about me is... I never thought to poll them. The thing I think people usually notice about me after 5 about minutes is how outspoken I am. I have strong opinions that I'm not afraid to share because they are well researched.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Atlas Shrugged; In the Time of the Butterflies; Life of Pi; The Prince; The Pentagon's New Map; Digital Fortress; Jane Eyre; Pride and Prejudice; What Every American Should Know About the Rest of the World; The Catcher in the Rye; 1984; Terror in the Name of God; Animal Farm; Buck Up, Suck Up, and Come Back When You Foul Up; and Le Petit Prince (in French, just to be extra snobbish!).

Movies: Airplane, The Secretary, Spaceballs, American Psycho, Annie Hall, The Princess Bride, Full Metal Jacket, Labyrinth, Shawshank Redemption, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gattaca, V for Vendetta, The Way We Were, Modern Times (this is a waaay old-school Chaplin film), and Dr. Strangelove.
TOP favorite though, is High Noon!! It's THE most watched movie in the White House and is an amazing representation of America's position in international politics. It's the only Western I take pleasure in watching. If you haven't seen it, go rent it, NOW!

Music: comes from groups like Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party, AC Newman, The Shins, Jon Brion, David Bowie, The Black Keys, Bob Dylan, Kings of Leon, Fiona Apple, Simon & Garfunkel, Sister Hazel, The New Pornographers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Actual Facts to name a few anyways.

Food: Chinese, Sushi, Italian, Thai, and Greek. I could eat schwarma every day if it was made well. I also just recently made my first attempt at cooking... something I've been desperately trying to avoid most of my life, it turns out that I make a fantastic Tomato Pesto Toast... so that is my new absolute favorite simply because I managed to make it without the help of a microwave. I think I'm going to continue to try my hand at the culinary arts... so my list of favorites will probably keep growing.

The six things I could never do without

1) Something new to learn

2) A good book

3) Affection

4) A challenge to overcome

5) Great music

6) Intelligent conversation

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think about foreign policy/affairs a lot... specifically, Russo-Iranian relations, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan, the Darfur genocide, the good v. bad rise of Communism in South America, the growing gap between the core and the periphery and whether or not the periphery can be incorporated into the global marketplace, the viability of China or the EU emerging as a balancing force in a unipolar world, and the effectiveness of the UN and possibilities for reform... to name a few.

Lately, I wonder if I could write a speech half as gripping as most of those presented at the DNC. Enacting the policies they enumerate might never happen.... but man the way they talk about it is beyond superb!

On a typical Friday night I am

I'm a firm believer that life, and especially Friday nights, should never be typical!

However, now that school's starting, you'll find me spending the beginning of my night doing Shabbat dinner at Chabad house, and depending on whether or not I get sucked into talking all night, I'll be out painting the town red with the boy I adore.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

is that when it's late and my mind's restless, I read trashy romance novels. I didn't until this past year when my roommate got me hooked... talk about mindless entertainment!

Hmm I guess that isn't terribly private is it? Ok how about this... I fiercely defend my independence, but sometimes I just really want to be taken care of... not that I'd ever admit when those times are...

You should message me if

well.... I'm extraordinarily happy in a relationship right now, so obviously if you're thinking about messaging me as anything more than a platonic gesture, it's not welcome.

I'm always happy to talk about those cliché topics of politics and religion, but make sure you know what you're talking about before you go there!

I can't believe I actually have to actually put this one out there, but fine... If you're more than 10-12 years older than me, please please please don't message me. I promise, it's for your benefit just as much as mine.
