My self-summary Propose an edit
Bah. I don't know how to write one of these without sounding like a
self-centred twat.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm a student at the University of Western Ontario, studying
Economics,
Philosophy, and
Mathematics. I
also have a part-time job as a church organist.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I am a mammal. My kind have live young ... no eggs.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Sadly, I don't seem to find as much time as I ought to for reading.
That said, I like Philosophy, especially Berkeley and Kant. My favourite novelist is probably
Hermann Hesse,
though Joyce and
Shakespeare
are high up there. I'm also a bit of a sucker for Sci-Fi --
especially Cyberpunk.
I'm not a huge movie buff, but I suppose my favourite movies might
include: Annie Hall, Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, Monty Python's Life
of Brian, Snakes on a Plane ... etc.
Viz music? Well, chances are if it was recorded between 1969-1979
and is remotely Progressive, I've heard it / totally
dig it ...
Examples of what's currently blaring from my stereo might include:
Kevin Ayers,
The Beatles,
Captain
Beefheart, Arthur Brown, Emerson Lake and
Palmer, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Peter Hammill, Jethro Tull, King Crimson,
PFM, Soft Machine, Van der Graaf
Generator, The
Who, Yes ... the
list could honestly continue indefinitely.
I also fall head over heels for Classical -- I've recently been
immersed in Mediaeval choral music like Josquin, Ockeghem, or Gesualdo. I love Bach and Beethoven above all others, though
Brahms and
Richard
Strauss also "rocks the proverbial socks" in a serious
way.
Food-wise? Well, I'll certainly try anything once. I'm especially
fond of the French school ... though I'm also keen on Eastern
European cuisine, so much so that sour cream is a required condiment
for potatoes, no matter what the form.
To be honest, my real passion is drink -- especially beer. I detest the epithet
"beer snob", but there's really no more appropriate term, I guess
... my knowledge of the stuff (especially the more obscure
varietals) runs embarrassingly deep.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
The Tic Tac
chick ...
... but then again, who doesn't?
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
... at the local pub with a few mates. Likely arguing vigorously
about whether property rights are natural or merely civil.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm a recovering bulimic.
You should message me if Propose an edit
you feel like it, of course! Especially if you want to strike up a
good conversation.
