My sense of happiness is derived from my being at peace. Kindness I believe is a way of life. My curiosity gives rise to the questions I ask myself and others. All of these together enable me to embrace today with a sense of wonderment and awe.

I am happy, kind, and curious

As I find myself in the garden, I can't call it work for it is more like communion, I am reminded of how large and how very small I am. As a giant I often barge in on a community so small they are often overlooked. And yet one plant will make me feel so small as I admire its beauty and complexity.
I can't prove that there is a God,
but looking at a wildflower
I can't deny that there is one.
Who or what is God?
I don't know.
But holding a seed in my hand
I sense the creation and the love
of the creator.
I am thankful that I need not
prove the existence of God to anyone.
I am thankful that I am only
a gardener.

Spent the last month working in the Texas panhandle with cows.

wondering why. It seems that with most everything else being good is the result of making mistakes, improving, and practice. Wondering why comes naturally.

Each day I am in the garden
literally or metaphorically.
The dirt I track in and the lessons
learned keep me growing
and grow I must.

Cut away the dead,
remove the broken limbs,
prune the crossing branches.
Forgive those who have hurt us.
Heal our brokenness
as we forgive others.
Lead us not into temptation
that would interfere or restrict our growth
for grow we must.

Who planted
the tree that became the cross?
the lillies of the valley?
the giant redwoods?
the wildflowers of the meadow?
the forgiveness in my heart?

hoping that tomorrow will be sunny so I can work in the garden. One thing that retirement has afforded me is the luxury to enjoy the garden on sunny days and not to worry about what needs to be done when the rain is falling.

I have an addiction to buying books. But then anyone who knows me knows that. So while I am an open book, I have boundaries and share my private world in context.
