My self-summary
*disclaimer: for a while ive been far more busy than predicted, and unfortunately unable to be on here often. i promise that i will get back to you as soon as possible, and i feel confident that i will go back to having no life and lurking on here frequently. until then, please be patient with my responses. i promise im not ignoring you!*

I am serious about being in a relationship with a girl. I was in one for about a week with a girl with whom I felt more strongly than with any guy I had dated previously, but she broke up with me. While I was with her, I told the people who are most important to me in my family that I think I am a lesbian with varied reactions.

I call myself as asexual because I have never been physically attracted to another person. On the one hand, it means that I can only judge people based on their personalities. On the third hand, it makes it difficult to determine one's sexual orientation. Therefore, my focus on this site is to find a woman who is willing to be in a long term relationship with me.

I am, admittedly, very responsible and I expect the same of others. People all have their give and take, but I always expect as much from others in a relationship as I put in, although it may be in different ways.

I am a School Psychology graduate student at Valparaiso University. So, clearly, I am still a student in college. I have 3 cats whom I love dearly. They turned 1 year old in February. My babies are growing up. :( There names are Calibre, Attia, and Nixi. I am passionate about the environment and human rights, particularly child soldiers. Animal rights is also important to me (although I am not a PETA member). I have decided to try being a pescetarian, although I'm failing badly currently. I was on a diet for a while, but for a variety of reasons I have come to decide that I am more than happy with my body as it is right now, which is average.

I am very Christian; it is critical to me that my partner support me in the paramount aspect of my life. I firmly think that one doesn't believe in something if they cannot explain why. I feel that the Bible is not anti- anything or anyone but sin.

I have some pet peeves. My number one is disrespect. This concept is a wide-encompassing term that covers anything from yelling at someone in public to insulting to not having manners. But it is seriously a HUGE problem for me, so if that's who you are, please feel free to not expect much from me. And another is spit noises. If people chew with their mouths open, I cannot stay near them.

I am intelligent, religious, and loyal

What I’m doing with my life
In the Fall, I am going to be a School Psychology major at Valparaiso University. I am currently interested in testing. Testing, for those who have asked, is how a counselor can get a guideline of what he or she is dealing with in regards to a patient. It gives him or her statistical results saying if some aspect of something (say, a personality disorder, IQ, or depression) have a higher manifestation in the client then it does in the average population. This result gives the counselor an idea of where to focus therapy toward. School psychology works with the individuals in the school system who are struggling. This focus encompasses designing learning programs for special needs students and working with students, teachers, and parents when issues arise.

I just graduated from Ball State University with a BA in Psychology and Political Science. It was a pain, but I'm done with it now. So, I am currently in a masters program.

I would like to one day have a serious partner to whom I am married. I would maybe like to adopt, although I am right now OK with the idea of not having children, too. I am passionate about child soldiers, so I have an idealistic thought floating around in my head that I would like to adopt a toddler from a war-torn country in Africa, such as Darfur, Sierra Leon, Uganda, or Ghana (Ghana isn't really war-torn, but it takes in a lot of the refugees from the countries that are). I also would not be opposed to adopting a girl from China. I am aware that there are a LOT of children in the United States that need permanent homes; but my feeling is, with all its significant failings, at least in the United States there is a foster care program, while in these 3rd class (and 2nd class) countries, there really is no support at all. Some orphanages are crammed to the max and run on donations. Some children eat about 1 small meal a day. So, although there are quite a few children who need a home here, my feeling is that it is good to also look at 3rd worlds countries for adopt.

I’m really good at
being supportive; being responsible; faithfulness; arguing; debating (similar, but different); as a friend told me (since I hadn't thought of it as a positive quality), being able to stand silence; pulling random facts out of nowhere; tutoring; being empathic (but not sympathetic); writing; grammar; liking the geekiest things ever (like comic book movies); being protective of the ones I love; getting annoyed; changing moods quickly (which is a good thing if a moment ago I was mad at you :) ); complaining but still getting it done and well.

The first things people usually notice about me
my sarcasm and assertiveness -except when making inane decisions. :P. (i dont actually know, so i assume as much.) i also have 2 small tattoos, but they're pretty hidden.

(tattoos, i have learned, are a great ice breaker. people will always ask about them, and then you find out that the people you least expected to have one do too. just an interesting fact ive discovered.)

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books--When Rabbit Howls, The Sandman series, psychology, fantasy, manga
movies--The Dark Knight, Watchmen (the director's cut is much better in my opinion), most genres
everyone's entitled to like what they like, but if you like twilight, we may have problems...:-P
tv--right now, for better or worse, i'm really into glee. also, i love scrubs, modern family, family guy, the big bang theory, $@* my dad says (or whatever the stupid title is), invader zim (classic!), dexter, criminal minds, certain anime, boston legal, mindless entertainment
music--alternative, pop, musicals
food--sweets (pie! candy, etc.), Ranch dressing, Dr. Pepper

after watching the rotten tomato show on current tv ive learned that you really can get a sense of people by hearing their top 5 movies. so i decided to let you in on what i think my current top 5 movies are, although it was painfully hard to decide and im still debating between my 5th and 6th picks.
ill throw out my 9-6 just bc i feel they are noteworthy.
9. crash 8. watchmen 7. the addams family 6. x-men
5. funny games this movie would be awful if i didnt know that the directors intent is to entirely mock the hollywood formula for movie-making. however, knowing that fact, i am able to escape my formulaic expectations and appreciate his creativity. plus, i love serial killers, and i think the show does a great job of both depicting a psychopath and a serial killing team. plus messing with the audience is fun, too.
4. the green mile this movie is the most entertaining depiction of Christ's death ive ever seen. and i bet you didnt know that is what it is based on, but it is. supposedly, stephen king bases all of his work off of something from the Bible that he then severely distorts. in this situation, it is just very obvious. the green mile is brilliantly acted, has a great script and plot, and has a truly touching story with great messages without being a mope-fest.
3. aliens this movie is childhood nostalgia for me. it is the perfect blend of science fiction, horror, and action movies. it is alien but faster-paced and with comedic secondary characters. but most importantly, the xenomorphs are immensely creative, scary creatures that are awesome to behold.
2. the dark knight i know this statement sounds cliche, but i loved the joker. i dreaded heath ledger playing him, but he did an amazing job of creating a totally insane (or supersane if youre nerdy as i am) character that every time you watch you pick up something new about. he was brilliantly written and excellently acted and im angry that the director is leaving for the stupid superman reboot. whatever. great cast (i love gary oldman) and amazing script.
1. invisible children you probably havent seen it, and you should. it is an amazing documentary done in a crappy mtv style about child soldiers in uganda. it literally changed my life; i am so much more aware and desiring to be involved in african politics and humanitarian issues worldwide. in america, we simply are not given the opportunities to know about some of the atrocities going on in the world. invisible children is a documentary of some college friends who want to make a movie, so they go to africa to try to find something exciting to film, and instead are moved by the plight of the people, particularly the children. it is powerful and amazing without being an infomercial that is drowning you in cliches. i will lend you a copy.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
book/movies character/plots, my cats, issues that arise (which are abundant and in never-ending supply), surviving the zombie apocalypse

what to do on the internet when im bored. i still havent figured it out...

i did an internship for the indiana democratic house of representatives. since then, my political ideologies have established themselves as liberal. i believe that everyone is entitled to believe what they feel is true, but if we argue, im not going to admit youre right unless you convince me of it. just a fair warning. :D

On a typical Friday night I am
doing homework; watching tv at home; talking with my best friend; trying to find something to do on the internet; trying to find someone to talk to, online or otherwise; on very rare occasions going out with friends; on even rarer occasions, going on dates :)
