I used to go with the irreverent approach here, but with the new year I've decided that irreverence is a crutch I'm growing weary of - it's time to exhibit the sincerity I like to see in others. People are always telling me "I like you for your sense of humor". That's great but humor is, and has been since I was a kid, mostly a tool for me to get attention. It's not the thing I cherish most about myself. So while I appreciate the attention I get for being funny, I'd like to be liked for the things I really like about myself - my intellect, my curiosity, my charity, my more reserved, thoughtful side, the ability to work with my hands and keep my mouth shut. I still like to be stupid and silly, sarcastic and witty, but I would like to find someone who can appreciate the other facets of me.
So, 2013 - bringin reverence back.
