I am self-deprecating, liberated, and in love with funk.

My Self-Summary

I'm a free-speech advocating, economically socialist, independent, anti-authoritarian, overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome and civil libertarian who is only slightly beholden to his corporate overlords.
Now in Thai
Phohm bpen khohn a maeh ri gan khrap. Chun chob nom yay.
Now in German
Flughafen, mit heiss, bitte.

What I’m doing with my life

Travel for work, travel for fun, travel some more for work. My job has been occupying too much of my time lately. Work / career is more or less on track - now it's time to focus on living.

I’m really good at

I'm pretty good with computers. I work as a consultant, mostly in the US, and when I'm lucky, around the world.

I provide tech support to everyone I know, build my own machines, and generally find the intersection of people and tech fascinating.

I'm a lousy, out-of-practice guitar player, but I still tool around a bit.

I'm great at taking things apart, and not getting around to putting them back together again.

The first things people usually notice about me

I imagine it's my hair, since I have a lot of it. It's good to let your freak flag fly.
Now in Spanish

The six things I could never do without

Mountains and beaches and NPR and beer and the 'net and having a pocketful of music wherever I go.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking about what I will do when I finish my current gig.

I think about places I want to travel, ways to modify my car, photos I'd like to take with my old school 35mm gear, and where I'd like to live.

I spend a lot of time thinking about religion, corporatism, income inequality, and other things that piss me off.

On a typical Friday night I am

On a typical Friday night I'm at home winding down from a crazy week at work, wandering/staggering about midtown, or waiting for a plane.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've taken communion, even though I'm not Catholic. It tasted like cardboard.

You should message me if

you think traveling to Laos sounds like a great idea;

you have a dog, preferably a big lazy dog;

you think a Phish concert is a good way to spend a weekend;

sleeping in a tent and pooping in the woods doesn't stop you from a heading into the wild;

you'd dig a top-down roadtrip;

you'd help me burn through my 300-movie-long Netflix queue.
