I am vibrant, full of life, and a tough cookie.

My Self-Summary

I'm a quick witted and sarcastic half Azorean Portuguese Nintendo fangirl. I'm a former vegetarian, and I still tend to eat meat less than 5 days a week (I often contemplate returning to that diet, but realize that I like bacon once in a while). I've been playing the piano since I was 9 and am very musically inclined. I'm a geography and geology nut (bachelors in geography, someday a masters in geology). I probably have a slightly unhealthy obsession with lip gloss, but in general don't care for make-up. I love playing video games with my nephews and niece. I bead necklaces for fun and sometimes for profit. I have three tattoos and I don't have any major plans to get more (except I've said I'll get another one if I should ever compete in and complete a marathon). I'm more of a cat person than a dog person, but I still like dogs.

I love my life, and I feel complete with or without a date/boyfriend. This is to say that although I am not actively seeking a date/boyfriend, I would grasp onto the right guy for me should he come along (but I'm not holding my breath, just being realistic here). I feel complete on my own, and I don't require anyone else to complete me. You should also feel complete on your own.

What I’m doing with my life

I have a job in child care and am currently seeking a second job to afford a new car and to move out on my own. I spend a lot of my spare time either exercising or studying for the GRE (taking it on January 27th, wish me luck!). I am hoping to get into the Masters program at CSU-Fresno for Fall 2010. Due to breaking my ankle in August 2009 I've suffered some minor setbacks (regarding health, education, and getting my own place). I'm getting back on track, but because of ankle issues I'm not back into it full swing yet!

I’m really good at

Playing the piano, making potato soup, taking care of kids, solving math problems, playing drums on Rock Band with my nephews, beading necklaces, playing video games, Scrabble and Boggle, various other things.

The first things people usually notice about me

Usually it's my eyes or my smile. I tend to hear those a lot.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Book: I like many books, like Stranger in a Strange Land (Heinlein), but the book I always come back to as my #1 is Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates (Robbins).

TV: Futurama, Arrested Development, The Critic, Eureka, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, House, The Biggest Loser, Survivor.

Movies: Life is Beautiful, Silent Hill, 50 First Dates, Spirited Away, Stranger Than Fiction (the only acceptable Will Ferrell movie), Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 500 Days of Summer, The Hangover, Equilibrium. - Ask me about my collection sometime, you might be surprised to find out what I'm into.

Video games: Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Majora's Mask. There are others, but those are my top three.

Music: Superchunk, Pinback, Portastatic, Ludo, Foo Fighters, She & Him, Kate Nash, and various others. I have a wide taste in music. But I loathe polka. For a better idea: My Last.Fm page.

Food: Breakfast is better than everything but a good pizza. Ethnically speaking however, it's all about Italian, Mexican, and Chinese for me...pretty much in that order!

The six things I could never do without

My family, my best friend. In truth, that's probably about it. I think I'd learn to live without anything else. There are things that I could see life being harder to live without, like a cell phone, the internet, etc. Or things that you wouldn't want to give up if possible, like a toilet and toilet paper. However I'm just not very materialistic. Even for birthdays and holidays, I don't require a gift, and if someone feels obligated to give me one, I'm just as happy getting a mixed CD or a handmade gift as I am to get a DVD boxset or something else.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Geographically and Geologically related concepts. Sometimes I'll spend a lot of time just thinking about plate tectonics. It's nerdy, I know, but it's what I got my degree in.

Oh and how my niece is way better than your niece. :p

On a typical Friday night I am

Working.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not a very private person, so if you're curious, ask away!

A couple of random facts about me:

I don't look like it, but I'm a sports fan. I don't have a "team," I just really like to watch a good game. Basketball and Football are the best to watch on TV. Baseball is best in person. And Roller Derby just rocks my socks! GO NOTOWN!!

Seafood and I are not close special friends. In fact, I tend to get nauseated just thinking about TRYING seafood. I've tried sushi, and gagged so much it was hard to swallow it. I'm likely to try FISH. Just not other seafood.

You should message me if

Something I said makes me sound nifty, because I'm super nifty.

Proper typing skills go a long way with me. By that I mean not sending "how r u?" in your first message. I mean, come on, you're only missing 4 letters. And what's wrong with the shift key? It needs loving, too!
