I am an chronic information junkie, as much in things like culture, music, literature, technology, science as in the subtleties of human interaction. Does the term '360-degree geek' exist? Because it should. Fuck it, I hereby declare it does :)
Travelling is almost too obvious to mention here, but, yes, I love it, though I suck at planning and am very much a 'winging it' improvising-on-the-spot kind of person. I've found each unexpected setback tends to come with benefits - the most interesting people you meet are sometimes those who missed the same flight as you.
I love talking and I love listening, both provide opportunity for learning - if it's in a foreign language all the better, might as well pick up on some gems along the way. Language tends to say a lot about the culture; from German's knack for capturing entire paragraphs in one word (fav of the moment: backpfeifengesicht!) to Italian's way you almost have to sing it, however mundane the message. Bellissimo!
I rarely take something serious, least of all myself, and I think one of my biggest turnoffs would be taking yourself or the world too seriously, with self-pitty being the worst offender. Life's just too short. On the other hand, I am instantly attracted by passion and people that have accomplished something great. In my opinion, if not love than at least infatuation, has 'admiration' as a really big component.
