I'm alive!

I've been running around having a life.  Sue me.

If you want to catch up, I might actually have time now (closed major deal for work that was sucking up most of my time).  If your name is Kip, that goes double.

Speaking of that life, it's pretty great.  I'm going to sleep now so I can enjoy more of it later today.

Where I've been

I'm getting OkCupid and SMS messages asking where I've been lately.  I've decided to indulge all my adoring fans, so here's what's up.

I met a lot of great people through OkCupid, but sadly most of them were not local.  The entire purpose of having a profile here was to meet local people (to the locals & almost-locals I have met, you're fantastic--you know who you are).

I decided to focus more effort on meeting people the old-fashioned way:  In person.  That has been going so well that I haven't felt any particular need to reach out online as well.

I'm still here.  I get e-mail notifications of messages, comments, etc and I do read them.  Feel free to stay in touch.

In related news, I've decided it's probably time to give in and move closer to San Francisco.  When pretty much everyone I like to spend time with, including most new acquaintances live somewhere other than I do it's best to not swim against the current.  If anyone has suggestions for where to live on the Peninsula--ideally half-way between SF and Sunnyvale--I'm all ears.

My Ghost Whispered

Fans of cyber-punk will recall that when Major Kusanagi has an intuition about a case, she says that her "ghost is whispering" to her.

I had been planning all day Monday to go out to Death Guild, but by the time I got off work I really didn't feel like finishing the smiley faces on my nails, finding a black & yellow tie, and dragging my ass up to San Francisco.

When I finally decided I'd just stay in and get some extra sleep, I had a nagging little voice in the back of my head say "go out, you won't regret it."  Sigh.

That voice proved to be correct, as I met a friend I hadn't seen in months and we had a great time chatting and snuggling.  Yay for snuggling.

Speaking of which, I'm long over-due for a snuggling session with my pillows.  Zzzzzz.

My Ghost Whispered

I just remembered why I don't read the forums here

I saw that someone on my favorites list made an interesting comment in a thread, so I went to read the context.  I should have known better.  It was basically a three-page back and forth of someone being very judgmental about imaginary judgements that someone else was(n't) making.

I've come to the conclusion that such a higher percentage of the world's population is comprised of morons that it's not worth my time to randomly read things.

Dear stupid and intellectually contradictory people:  Please stop.

Nike+ iPhone 3GS is pretty rad

So it turns out that the receiver is actually built-in to the iP3GS; you don't have to fiddle with plugging in the external receiver any more.

My only complaints so far are that the voiceover is softer on the iP3GS than on my Nano, and it's more difficult to pause, but that's probably due to the fact that I'm using a Marware armband designed for the iPod classic.  The Belkin armband for iP3GS has terrible reviews, and so far as I know it's the only sportsband for the iP3GS.

So long for now, hilarious photos

I guess since I'm not trolling R&R any more I should take down all the photos meant simply for shock value.  Perhaps they will be back some day. *DELETE*

Another profile experiment

So I decided to change my profile to prove/disprove my hunch about a certain bit of information. The isn't any deception involved (and wasn't before), but I'm curious to see whether it will have any influence on people.

Because it will probably be everyone's first guess, no it's not the child. That info has been there since day 1.
