As some of you may know, I've been writing about dating
statistics for OkCupid's blog. The new post I'm working on seeks to
answer the question: What Makes A Good Profile Picture?
To figure that out, I need to *classify thousands of user
pictures*. I need to know, was this picture taken outdoors? Is it
sexually suggestive? Is the person smiling? And so on. I would
really appreciate YOUR help.
The way it works is: we built a little utility for to classify
pictures, and anyone OkCupid member can use it. I you have the time
or inclination, I'd really appreciate it. It's kinda fun to do.
Here's the link to the utility:

Thanks,

None of that is any good. At least one full body shot, one closeup of the face, not too much nudity, and preferably evidence that user is not in fact a basement dweller, has friends etc.

But seriously, Chris, pay me £50k and I'll make this site work for you.

I guess you are asking to have the pictures 'rated' as "good" versus "acceptable"; I think some users might confuse this with flagmod so maybe make that clear too?

This is a tautology.

I guess chicks would say they want to see the man's hip area to determine if he has unattractive, wide/feminine hips. But that is not nearly as common or as unattractive as women who store all their weight in the lower portion of their bodies.

Well, that was amusing. For the simple fact that i had a lot of fodder for mocking :) Some of those outfits should not ever have been exposed to the public eye.
And there was a really, really frightening penis lying on the counter in one shot. Who thinks "Ohh... to show off my penis, I should prop it up on the counter here..."

but just to clarify for wimzilla - mocking other people should not make you feel better about yourself. with the pictures you have uploaded and posted in your journal, you are the last person on earth who should be supporting this strategy

I'm going to say the typical on-counter penis is probably not as horrifying as these.

compare and contrast:
- a picture the person took themselves with their arm in the shot leading from their body to the camera
- a picture of the person from a social event. whether or not anyone else is in the picture, it is obvious that a friend is taking the picture.
now imagine two people, each have five pictures, one having all the former kind, another having almost entirely the latter kind.
