My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a/an: student, feminist, wanna-be riot grrrl, reader of books, knitter of warm things, beer enthusiast, amateur gardener, INFJ, fitness aspirant, animal lover, former roller derby skater and current fan, silly weirdo
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just moved to the northside of Indy from Muncie after graduating from college. I'll be starting my first year of graduate school at IUPUI in August. Until then, I'm working at a restaurant.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Despite being a bit reserved, I'm really good with people. Listening, empathizing, problem solving, making meaningful connections, etc.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I would imagine they notice that I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Or my tattoos, if I'm wearing shorts. They're hard to miss.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Currently reading: some textbooks to prepare for graduate school because the fun never stops in academia.
My all-time favorite books include Mrs Dalloway (Woolf), Kafka on the Shore (Murakami), Franny and Zooey (Saligner), everything Lorrie Moore has ever written, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (Jonathan Safran Foer), Feminism is for Everybody (bell hooks), Diving into the Wreck (Adrienne Rich), East of Eden (Steinbeck), etc etc

I haven't seen a lot of movies that most people consider classics. I mostly watch documentaries when I do watch movies. But some of my favorite non-documentaries are Amelie, The Royal Tenenbaums (all Wes Anderson really), Me and You and Everyone We Know (all Miranda July, really), and The Science of Sleep

TV: Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, Breaking Bad, Orange Is the New Black, Homeland.

As far as music, I like indie and folksy stuff. Some favorites are: Sufjan Stevens, Regina Spektor, Joanna Newsom, Why?, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, Iron & Wine, Passion Pit, Kimya Dawson, the Mountain Goats.

I love food, especially when paired with good beer. I appreciate fresh produce and strong flavors. I'll never turn down sushi, a Thai curry, or an IPA.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
sunshine, comfortable shoes, a phone and/or the internet to talk to my faraway family and friends, access to a library, old photos and the memories that go along with them, and something to look forward to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My main academic focus in undergrad was sexual assault prevention, consent education and victim advocacy, so I spend a lot of time thinking about issues related to that. I also think about what I'm going to eat for dinner. (To quote Whitman, I contain multitudes.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
beers with friends, knitting and netflix, cooking elaborate meals, etc

I tend to value sincerity over sarcasm as well as kindness, patience, intellectualism without pretentiousness, independence, direction, and ambition. I care a lot about feminism and social justice issues. If you share those values and we have some things in common, message me!

(I don't think I've ever responded to a message that could have reasonably been copy and pasted to another user and still made sense ("what's up," "how are you," etc), so save us both some time and send me a message that indicates that you read my profile.)
