after a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a
hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean
leaning and company doesn't mean security, And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, And you
begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open,
with the grace of wisdom, not the grief of a child. And you learn
to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too
uncertain, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too
much. So, you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn
that you really can endure, that you really are strong. And you
really do have worth. And you learn and learn, with every good-bye
you learn.

is a whirl of constant change. This poem given to me by my mother
years ago has come closer and closer to describing me. As we change
we learn and grow and no matter what society thinks or believes you
should be; you are you... and I am I. Through out childhood we are
taught that we are great and the world is our play ground. We are
invincible! Ha, how true was it when 2+2 equaled 4. Now today in a
world where 2+2 could equal 6 or 3 or 6 and 3... does it still
apply? I believe true success is based on individuality. By
becoming the best me I can I hope to affect the world in a small
insignificant yet astounding way. I used to think I had to move
mountains but more and more I realize that my 'garden' only has to
change a smile on the face of a child to make the whole world
alittle bit better!
