Ughhh...i've been back from the Balkans for 5 weeks now, and i'm still going through vacation withdrawl. It was so much fun. I met so many great people. I miss them, I miss my family, that yesterday I cried at the thought of them, and i'm not one to cry that easily. I guess I just needed to let that out, hopefully i'll blog in some photos or post them somewhere and link it up. Most likely no one reads these things :) but if anyone does, just wanted them to know I had a fantastic time...any questions about the Balkan region......ask away.

After a month or so of owning my new camera, I've finally been able to test it.......at a Boxing/Muay Thai Event here in Edmonton........I'm pleasantly surprized with the outcome of some of the photos, and just generally impressed with how the camera responded....sooooooo extremely happy about my choice, and am now looking forward to my trip even more seeing that this bad boy camera performs as well as it does :) Perhaps when I upload some I will post them on here as well.....

Well 6 more weeks to go, finally got my passport...hmmm very unflattering...it's stupid that they make you take off your glasses (I mean i know it's for isometric measurements), but Iend up looking completely different, and most likely overseas will have to take off my glasses each time I present my passport, which is just beyond stupid.......but not much I can do about that one. My international drivers license isn't much better, I look like i'm somewhat pissed off and irritated, and/or drunk...you'd think the guy would have counted to 3 or something before telling me he took the picture...but I suppose that was beyond his mental capacity or he was just lazy....

Purchases are being made.....it's always nice to have an excuse to buy stuff that you normally wouldn't buy, but "hey i'm going on vacation why not"...although that's going to hurt me in the long right, right now my brain doesn't process the loss of funds as a problem. Even bought this old school looking leather bound book, so i can keep a journal of my travels, it's a little old school but i miss putting pen to paper....

40 days.....woohoo

Most people would probably not start counting down to their vacations this early, but I guess I'm not most people :) I'm beyond excited to go to the Balkans. My parents are originally from that area and I have been there before, but there's something different about this time, and i'm not sure why. Althought i'm sure my excitement opens up the opportunity to breed disappointment....that's a risk I'm willing to take. Along with stops in Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia, I'm hoping to take a couple days exploring parts of Germany or Austria.

I can't wait to see family members and friends from past trips, as well as experience that "typical" european atmosphere, sipping lattes mid afternoon, people watching, always something going on in the streets, and hoping I don't run out digital media to capture all these moments I speak of........

Well it's been a nice run but I'll have to say goodbye to my Nikon D40.....I'm moving to a newer model. If anyone would like my old one (just the body $200 (can get new lenses at McBains starting at about $150-170ish), or with the lens for $350) Please send me a message. It's a really great starter camera, i have the box, strap, software, charger, pretty much all it came with. I'll even throw in a quick how to use it session if need be. If you'd like to see some of the photos i've taken with it I can email those to you as well....so if ya interested like i said DROP ME A LINE ON OKC....

On another note, can't wait to use my new camera when I go to Europe.....sweeeeeeeet :)........

I never thought any pictures I've ever taken, would be considered desirable enough to want to be bought. Now I'm not saying I don't believe in myself or what not, but photography has always been a hobby for me and not a means of generating cash flow, but apparently a boxing picture is worth $150 to someone for their rec room and well just a little journal entry as a pat on the back to myself....:)
