My self-summary
I think my friends would say that I'm a fun guy who cares about his impact on the world, considers the effects of his actions, and laughs often (and loudly). For sure, the first and the last ones.

Everything else you can find below, or ask!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm the beer manager at a specialty deli in the Pike Place Market. My identification with this wonderful nectar doesn't necessarily define me... but it goes far beyond professional interests, and permeates my life.

Launching a Seattle branch of a growing national non-profit organization that hosts "community feasts for a cause."

Studying for my level 2 Cicerone exam -- http://www.cicerone.org

Starting a small business.

Eating as locally and sustainably as possible. (Oh, how I love the farmers markets, especially in summer!)
I’m really good at
Keeping you out of the clutches of Officer Friendly at a protest. Helping you up when you fall down in the pit. Brewing sweet, sweet beer. Describing the qualities of a great beer or coffee, and sometimes whiskey, tequila, or wine.

I make delicious "healthy" cookies.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard, which is a lot bushier now than in my pictures (I get a lot of compliments, I guess I should post a newer pic).

That they thought I was younger than I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Read: There is no one right way for all people to live. Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. Blood and bloody ashes. Dark wings, dark words. Beer is a deep, wide river that flows through human culture.

See: Et ta connerie? Elle est congénitale? It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything. Today is a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap. It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van. I once fixed a door that wasn't even broken yet.

Watch: Know thyself, because what else is there to know?
Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore. So I told him that I loved him... and I kiissed him... and I killed him. Bible's broken. Contradictions, false logistics - doesn't make sense. I am the bad wolf. I try to be my best. That's what she said. I am aware of the way humans usually reproduce which is messy, unsanitary and based on living next to you for three years, involves loud and unnecessary appeals to a deity. Listen, Part I: Color's just another number tattooed with a blunt old tool. Your place is still at the heart of my everything. If I don't let myself be happy now, then when? Every night I dream the same dream of getting older and older all the time. Sometimes you see right through me. Don't wanna spend the rest of my days singing yesterday's love songs. We're so close to it, so very close to it. We still have energy in us. Fill your shoes with summer, untie the laces of your soul, take the watch around your wrist and throw it at the sun.

Listen, Part II: I listen to NPR a lot. I almost never listen to commercial radio, which is why my musical tastes might seem a bit limited. My favorite radio shows: The Vinyl Café, This American Life, A Prairie Home Companion, Says You, and Wait! Wait! Don’t Tell me! These days I've also been streaming all kinds of francophone radio on my phone.
Food: I’m fishetarian (but picky about the fish). Aside from a few accidents, I haven't eaten non-fish-meat since '92. I don't feel limited or challenged by this choice, and I also don't try to convert anyone else to my diet.
The six things I could never do without
I'm done with my old tongue-in-cheek answer to this question. And aside from the absolute essentials to maintain life, there's not much I need. Here's a short list of the things that make life enjoyable.

A balance of community and alone time.
Delicious beer.
Great friends.
The intermingled scent of salt water and evergreen.
Music.
Public radio.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What beer would taste good with or in my dinner.
The bittersweet poetry of human experience.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sipping a beer on my porch or at my local bar. Walking Greenlake.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
je me suis couché une fois dans les toilettes d'un camping dehors Strasbourg, France.

I may be unduly excited about my planned March trip to San Francisco to see Texas is the Reason play.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–39
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners
You should message me if
The ideal? You're a fun punk rock anti-capitalist, craft beer-drinkin' girl. But really, just be real, and don't try to listen to pop-country when we're together, and I'll be happy.

If you want me to cook vegetarian food for you, or brew some delicious beer for you, that's a bonus.
