Your Notes
Edit your notesI am corny, idealistic, and slightly mad.
My Self-Summary
25 Things About Me
1. My latest obsession is with pretending to be pregnant, just to see if people would give me their seats on the train. It's a social experiment and so far, it's about 50-50.
2. I once loved a man who went to fight the war in Iraq. He's alive, but the relationship died. (For other reasons! I tried to be supportive, really!)
3. My extended family's favourite story about me is the time my grandmother brought me to the neighbourhood market and left me at a nearby tree, leaving me instructions to just wait. So that's what I did. By the time she came back to retrieve me, given crime rates at that time, I really ought to have been kidnapped for ransom or lured away with candy and sold as a child labourer. But I was still there. Therein lies proof of my negligible market value.
4. I am apparently growing shorter. Hence my ever-expanding collection of high heels.
5. I have reduced my list of favourite foods into 4 Cs - coconuts, chicken, corn and carrots. I'm so easy to feed someone really ought to adopt me as a pet or something. Speaking of favourite foods, I have eaten enough carrots to know that they do indeed turn one orange.
6. I have borrowed Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity from the library about 5 times now, because I gave my copy away and never got round to buying another copy.
7. I have yet to meet someone who plays the cello, but a online crush from ages ago once described the vibrations of a cello against one’s thighs and taught me the seduction of words and imagination. Cellist, anyone?
8. I used to sit in my parents' car and make sad faces and mouth words to cars on the adjacent lane at red lights, pretending that I was kidnapped, abused and/or terminally ill. It used to annoy me that nobody ever tried to rescue me. But I now know it's because I'm not much of an actress.
9. I have scars on my back that I believe came from years of wearing bras that didn’t fit.
10. The possibility of parallel universes and alternate realities fascinate me. In the first website I built, I had a section dedicated to the idea of worm holes. I read A Brief History of Time every once in a while to refresh my memory and think Hawking deserves all the attractive wives he can handle.
11. I have essays published in the Chinese newspaper (when I was a student reporter) and photos in a couple of magazines (no money, only credit by name), but didn't save any of the clippings because I'm still ashamed of my writing and photography skills.
12. I was once involved in an accident on a icy highway. Fortunately nobody in the car was hurt. I saw no flashing scenes from my past, only flashing car lights.
13. I've been writing online for 10 years now. My best friend tells me I write in the exact same way all these years. Kinda sad, really.
14. Sometimes I think I am keeping a blog so I can write my thoughts down and see the weirdness in them (they usually don't seem so twisted when still in my head). I'm learning to not tell people everything that comes to my mind.
15. My mother still harbours hopes of me marrying a doctor, so she can have easy access to prescription drugs and medical advice.
16. When I see someone walking in front of me in wobbly heels, I imagine the heels snapping and that someone having an ugly fall, so she might go buy new and hopefully sturdier shoes. My violent imagination worries me, though my intent is pure.
17. I was once propositioned by a very attractive bisexual. I turned him down. Dang it! (okay this is an exaggeration, cos the proposal was in jest (I think). My reply was in half jest. HAH!)
18. I tell people I'm seeking a man who has a car because I like to be driven. But really it's because I have no faith in my own eye-hand coordination and imagine that I will one day perish in a tragic car accident that's entirely my own fault.
19. I'm extremely non-confrontational. I'm more the stick-pins-in-voodoo-dolls type of person.
20. Re: #19, nah just kidding really I believe in Karma. It's the lazy girl's way of getting back at someone.
21. I wanted to be a teacher like my mom when I was a kid, but a few months of teaching chemistry at my alma mater convinced me otherwise.
22. I am an ex-Malaysian working for the Singapore government, which seems to tickle my friends a lot.
23. I once rushed home from a date because I was worried about leaving my dog alone at home and a fire breaking out in the neighbour's house and thereby killing my dog. My then-boyfriend was very understanding and for that I loved him for a very long time.
24. I sometimes (such as now) wish I did more outrageous things when I was younger. But other times (such as now now) I wonder if it might be because there's already too much madness residing in my brain.
25. Deep down I believe I am very average.

The six things I could never do without
I wish people would think more carefully about this question. Things one could *never* do without? Wow, never? Some things I'd really hate to lose, like family, close friends, my dog...but could I do without them? I'll survive of course. Very lonely, tormented and traumatised. But damnit I'll be alive.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What new country should I visit this year?

I'm not really looking for a date, by the way. I joined this site way back when I was still in college. It was all about the tests and questions and *coughprocrastinationcough*. Guess that is still the case now.
