My self-summary
Curious, enthusiastic, committed to connection and hearty red wines. An ENFJ (though not as extroverted as I once was).

I'm looking for someone who exhibits some emotional literacy. Do you know how you're feeling? Great. Do you have some experience working through conflict in an authentic, vulnerable way? Fantastic.

I'm politically active and try to live out the values I believe in. I'm a big fan of the "experience, reflection, action" loop, and tend to search for meaning in my daily life.

I like to think I'm a pretty dynamic teacher, though I spend a lot of time listening and working with others to refine what they believe, who they are, and how they see the world. I do anti-oppression work and facilitation when I'm not teaching.
What I’m doing with my life

I’m really good at

Flossing before bedtime
Being surprised when my students show up for office hours
Asking good questions
The first things people usually notice about me
Glasses? Nose ring? Fire in my eyes?

I'm a big fan of Barbara Kingsolver, Margaret Atwood, and Judith Butler. bell hooks!

Parks & Rec, Law and Order.

Florence + the Machine, First Aid Kit. Beyonce.

Thai is delicious and easily vegetarian-friendly. Indian food. Anything covered in avocados.

I spend a lot of time thinking, "Have I read my student's papers yet this week?"

Am I helping revive my plants or kill them? What makes people feel alive? Why do so many people I love spend so many hours a day doing work they don't like?

How can we work together to change this world to make it more habitable, more equal, more just, more beautiful?
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes on Fridays I'm at this woodworking class I'm taking at the Chicago Park District (most of the time I skip, though, because men in their 60s tend to not be the demographic I'm interested in on Friday evenings).

A bar? Probably at a bar.
