My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
By baby steps, this gets slowly more informative. I am a huge dork. I am super into science fiction and fantasy and linguistics. I really like proper grammar but take liberties with it when the situation demands/politely requests it. And I've been known to get angry at movies for blatant contravention of the laws of physics.

I am prone to dropping cluster f-bombs. There is an excellent chance that I like plastering everything I say in hedging words.

I'm a fan of precise language, so take that as you will. And I really like commas and beginning sentences with conjunctions.

Also my goodness but I get really excited over stupid things. So there's that. And I might just be super sarcastic.

And I have been told that my drunken tweeting is quite a thing to see. Or read, rather.

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Right now I am working for Goodwill. I am hoping to save the money to put myself through a paralegal program so that I can see if Law School might be a good match for me. If that pans out, I'll shoot for a law degree with the ultimate goal of public defense, because that is a career that I could definitely see myself going for.

Short version: I believe everyone gets second chances and everyone should have someone to be there for them, regardless of things they have done. So there's that.

In Novembers, I pretty much write myself out of everything (you will see what I did there in a moment), since I am doing National Novel Writing Month, which you should also do because it is super cool and grueling and you feel AWESOME when you're done.

Oh, and I adore rock climbing, even though it kicks my ass habitually.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am really good at seeing multiple sides to an issue. This can be a bit of a double-edged sword.

Oh, and mocking the shit out of things I actually like. This is pretty much my relationship with my favorite anything. Should be noted that this does not extend to people, as that would be douche-y.

...and listening, even if your views are not exactly mine. I really like learning what makes people tick, and I am absolutely fascinated by finding out why people hold beliefs that (to me) seem nonsensical.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In what context? Online, the first thing is probably that my sentences tend to be a bit on the long and convoluted side. In person, I would have to guess my snark. I have a sarcastic streak wider than the Olduvai Gorge. That or my occasional bent for pitch-black humor, but I don't really whip that out in front of strangers. At a rave? Probably that I'm confused as to how in the hell I got there.

...oh wait, it's probably my beard. It is red. The rest of my hair is brown. Go figure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Lord of the Rings, The Cat that Walks Through Walls, American Gods, Watership Down, Neuromancer, The Brief Glorious Life of Oscar Wao

Movies: In Bruges, The Prestige, Ten Things I Hate About You, The Sound of Music, A Knight's Tale, The Secret of Kells, Inglourious Basterds
Shows: Community, Angel, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (even if the name makes me cringe, jesus wept), Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, the Wire
In general, I really like shows and movies that feature prominent mood whiplash. It's one of my favorite effects EVER when everything is okay and then BAM suddenly everything's very not.

Music: Flogging Molly, Eluveitie, Primordial, Beethoven, Delhi 2 Dublin (do not judge me, they spell it that way themselves), Streetlight Manifesto, Flobots, Explosions in the Sky, Florence and the Machine, Great Big Sea, Indigo Girls, Iron and Wine
Oh, and Metric. I really need more of them.

Food: Hm, don't rightly know what to put here yet. Greek? We'll go with that. Maybe also Thai. And I love Pho. SO DELICIOUS.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Let's start with friends. That seems like a good foundation.
Also some form of storytelling media (like TV, movies, or books, though if I had to choose one it would be books) and music. I really want to get better at music in general; I've not had the attention span to really learn and instrument.
Controversy would be an interesting fourth; I love seeing things unfold in the world, especially when people disagree. A world where everyone agreed on everything would be boring. I do not want everyone to agree with me.
Strangers around me is a pretty solid fifth. I need a certain amount of human pressure around, otherwise it kind of scares me.
And lastly, let's go with a measure of my own space. I really need time to myself. Or at least time around one (and only one) other person. I don't do well with large groups for long periods of time.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Legal issues, plausibility of space travel, ramifications of seemingly innocuous statements, places that don't exist.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I tend to spend my Fridays hanging out with my friends. Occasionally more interesting things happen. Every now and then it takes the biosphere years to recover.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'll make you a deal: ask me a question in person, and I'll answer it honestly. I don't really hide much about myself, I just don't want to broadcast everything.

You are more than a bit of a dork, you like talking about things and batting ideas back and forth. There's not much I don't like to discuss.

Also if you think we would have interesting arguments. Or if you want someone to be your archenemy or something.

In men, I am interested in speed on par with a coursing river, approximate force of a great typhoon, strength in the neighborhood of a raging fire, and a certain mysterious quality not entirely unlike the dark side of the moon.
