My self-summary
OK. I'm currently taking a hiatus from work, which I am super excited about. Looking for fun people to help me fill my newly acquired free-time. Am a bit apprehensive about the idea of online dating, but figure I'd be more likely to meet a cute, literate, somewhat socially-awkward girl who likes to smoke pot and snuggle and such.

On weekends, I love going to the beach when it is warm (not often enough out here! I am from Florida and lived most of my adult life before this in Vegas. I definitely miss the sun and warm weather, one thing I still can't get used to out here.), fishing, camping, going to new restaurants, going to concerts, fun stuff like that. I am not particularly into going to bars or clubs, but I'll occasionally have a drink with friends every once in a while. Just not my scene, and not my drug of choice.

I don't like cars. I managed to get by without one for about two and a half years out here, but had to break down and get one for my job last year. It has it's upsides though, now it is super easy to go camping/to the beach/hiking/whatever.

I rarely drink, I would much rather prefer to smoke a couple of joints instead. I've dated girls who don't smoke pot before, but my strong preference would be for someone who does. Shared hobbies are important, right?

I get a pretty rad CSA box each week, and need someone to help me eat all the veggies. I really like to cook, but hate cooking for just myself. Help me out by letting me cook dinner for you sometime. My leeks and chard will appreciate it.

I also play guitar (badly), and recently bought a Casio, lying to myself that I would teach myself how to play. So if you want to come over sometime and play keyboard while I play guitar on Bob Seger's "Still the Same," that would be awesome.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, to start with, up until 2 weeks ago I was working for a labor union, organizing medical cannabis workers. I used to bop around the country working on political campaigns, but now I'm "retired" from politics. I moved out to Oakland a few years ago, and dig it quite a bit. I can't quite put into words how much I appreciate the fact that I can carry around a card that means I won't get arrested for having pot, and can buy it from a store, rather than a gross drug-dealer. This is a wonderful thing.

Beyond that, I'm trying to figure out life, just like everyone else.
I’m really good at
Rolling spliffs. I joke about my 10,000 Malcolm Gladwell hours going into this, but seriously, I can roll a pretty nice spliff, if you'd like me to demonstrate.

I also am a pretty good cook, as long as it consists of throwing various items in a pot with wine and cooking it for a long time.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my long, flowing hair? I get a lot of questions about my race, since I'm a white guy with asian-looking eyes and freckles. I'm part Native American, in case you were wondering.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read. All time favorites would include The Illuminatus Trilogy, A Confederacy of Dunces, The Death of Ivan Ilych, Watership Down, um, other things I can't think of right now. I've recently (past year or so) read a bunch of frivolous but fun stuff, e.g. all of the Game of Thrones books, the Walking Dead comics, the Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo books (well, most of them. slogged through the first two, couldn't finish the third, was too bored), just read the Hunger Games (obviously not the target demographic for that one. gets a resounding "meh" from me), Geek Love, various Philip K. Dick and Raymond Chandler books, and other stuff, I'm sure.

I'm gonna throw a curveball here and put in my favorite podcasts. I really like Comedy Bang Bang and How Did This Get Made. I also think Mike Detective and You Look Nice Today were awesome, and hope they come back soon. But my favorite, I mean laugh out loud like a lunatic podcast is Professor Blastoff. I doubt this means anything to anybody out there, but if you ever want to talk Shwamp Roghck (sp? not sure how to transliterate that), I'm so down.

Some bands I like, that I can currently remember, in no particular order: Talking Heads, Pixies (and Frank Black and the Catholics), Destroyer, Propagandhi, Devo, Blatz, Queen, David Bowie, Sugar and Husker Du, Elvis Costello, The Kinks, Fiery Furnaces, Rufus Wainwright, Islands (and the Unicorns), Kraftwerk, Elliott Smith, Os Mutantes, Pavement, of Montreal, Parliament and/or Funkadelic, Slayer, Public Image Ltd., Tom Waits, !!!, and lots of other good stuff.

I like all kinds of food. I am a relatively good cook, tell me what you want, I'll figure out how to make it.
The six things I could never do without
Scunci hair ties.
Ice water.
Amsterdam Shag rolling tobacco.
My cannabis (preferably a REAL sativa. Thai if you got it...)
Apples.
Music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How can I open my bed and breakfast in Costa Rica? Is anyone hiring in Amsterdam? Can we finally legalize pot so I can get on to doing something useful with my life?
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to avoid going to a boring bar again. Anyone got any good ideas for fun things to do?

Hopefully getting my tent set up for a weekend camping trip.

Or, staying in and smoking some joints, reading, listening to music, decompressing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm colorblind, and it is just like this: http://randomfunnypicture.com/tag/color-blind/

I have really bad fashion sense, and am extremely lucky that I can get away with wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie everyday for work.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 24–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, casual sex
You should message me if
If you are awesome and want to hang out, obviously. I'm pretty much up for anything, whether it's a new smoking buddy, a friend with benefits, or the love of my life. Wanna see what happens?

PS - you are preferably East Bay. San Francisco gives me anxiety!
