I'm a man who doesn't fit into categories and that is due to my strong independent streak. I'm a college professor who conducts research in experimental aesthetics. Since I never had children, I guess my students are my children by proxy. I work hard, but I need a lot of down time. I think people would say I'm loyal and kind.
Music is important to me. I see a lot of shows every year. I listen to everything from punk/metal to jazz to electronica to classic rock. Last year some of the bands I saw were Jane's Addiction, Meat Puppets, Eilen Jewell, Z.Z Top, and Mastodon.
The world is a treasure and it would be nice to share some of those experiences with someone. At my "seasoned" age, I've become more circumspect and flexible about relationships. I think you need to go with the flow. If you focus on the present and the joy you extract from the moment, everything else will take care of itself. That makes sense to me.
I've seen hundreds of bands over the years. Some of the more memorable ones were Led Zep, the Ramones, Miles Davis, the Clash, Iggy, Zappa, James Brown, Social Distortion, Clapton, Talking Heads, and Dylan.
Some of my favorite reads are Steppenwolf, Confederacy of Dunces, Fahrenheit 451, The Drowned World, too many others to list.
I like art and foreign films, black comedies, British humor, classic old movies. Woody Allen and Hitchcock, Coen Brothers. Japanese anime and film. Diva, Eraserhead, Apocalypse Now, 2001 Space Odyssey, Last Year at Marienbad, Death Note are some favorites.
Thai, Indian, Italian, Ethiopian, Tibetan, Pan-Asian, and sushi are faves.
