I am grounded, dreamy, and gentle.
My Self-Summary
Hi
I came to Alice Springs because of the place- the light and the
desert scenery, and
I love it. Mind you I just visited Scotland and was wowed,
constantly by the scenery there. So- I love
powerful scenery and being
surrounded by beauty. Enjoy
camping, especially away from the
madding crowds. As well, I
read,
write and fondle
books. I read
fantasy and reference (
birds and geology and I
write for children. I live with a personality
dog- did I say I like animals?
What I’m doing with my life
My job takes me driving in the desert- so it keeps me busy and
dusty. Sometimes I even go 4wdriving out there for recreation! I
visit my family and friends on the East Coast and in Oxford. I read
and write and go to movies- even the occasional opera! I walk my
dog along the Todd where she is divebombed by birds in the nesting
season.
I’m really good at
ideas. Love learning.
The first things people usually notice about me
No idea- I'm usually quiet at first. My dog- she's the extrovert.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Well- what can I say-
Juliet Marillier is my current fantasy passion, but I always like
the old favourites Charles de Lint, Neil Gaiman and Robin McKinley.
Then there are the non-fiction- reading Landforms of Australia at
the moment. Looking for books about crows. Dreading a visit to
Melbourne as I can spend far too much at Andrew Isles
bookshop
Movies- love good fantasy (which often comes disguised as
children's. Just saw Burn after Reading- loved it. Local Hero is my
all time favourite, and I am about to rewatch Juno which has an
unbelievably good soundtrack. Have a collection of docos too.
Music- all sorts- well not quite - but bought The Proclaimers and
one or two others in Scotland, Love Geoffrey Yunupingu, Andreas
Scholl, Eric Bibb, some opera, John Butler, Mark Knopffler, Deborah
Conway, ...stop me please.
Food- try not to- but love nuts, deep dark chocolate, coffee, chai
tea, pasta, salmon....
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

daydreaming
On a typical Friday night I am
not quite sure what typical is. Could be driving home, or at the
movies, out to dinner or curled up in bed with a good book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
i'm quite shy when i first meet people.
You should message me if
you want to- I'm happy to chat.
