I am Irreverent, passionate, and competitive.
My Self-Summary
I agree with most people that trying to explain who you are in a
few concise paragraphs is impossible, so instead I will try to give
you the highlights.
I'm a pretty hard core
environmentalist and have been
called a damn
hippie and a
tree hugger. I am, and I'm proud of
it. I care deeply for the environment and strive to give a voice to
the things around us that can't speak for themselves. I'm very into
the
voluntary simplicityand
urban
homesteading movements but am in no way old fashioned or
traditional. However, this means that if you're looking for a
partner for retail therapy I'm not your girl.
I just recently took up
photography and
biking and am quickly falling in
love with both. I also enjoy
rock climbing,
parkour, and
hiking but spend less time on these since
I have very few people interested in doing them with me. (hint
hint) I play
video
games more than I probably should, enjoy
reading, and go through fits and spurts
of intensive
sewing
and
knitting. I
have a ton of other things that I'm interested in (
poi,
knife throwing,
table top gaming) that
tend to get pushed off to the side in favor of relaxation.
What I’m doing with my life
I just got out of an 8 year relationship and am trying to learn how
to live on my own. I'm not interested in getting in another
relationship at this point. I'm not there yet and probably won't be
for quite some time. Right now I'm just enjoying hanging out with
people and learning what it is like to be single and an
adult.
I'm working on my master's in
Library and
Information Science! Basically I'm constantly behind in my
readings and homework so I've had a lot less time for fun stuff
like
videogames
and
gaming in
general.
I spend some time
sewing,
knitting and am teaching myself to
crochet. This is
mostly because I want to move as far away from consumerism as
possible by being as self sufficient as I can. I
garden on the weekends so I can
produce some of our my food and the rest I get from my CSA and
local farmer's market.
My weeknights tend to be busy as I generally go to the
gym or
climbing after work so between that and
the bus ride I get home in time to make dinner, rest for a bit and
then get to bed.
I’m really good at
Information, which is why I'm making a career out of it. Finding
information is my forte and thus will be focusing on reference
librarianship.
Other than that I tend to think of myself more as a bard; a jack of
many trades and a master of none. I'm pretty good at sewing though
I'm always looking to improve, I can sing but prefer sea shanties
to anything formal, my writing is fair and I'm bright though often
I find it difficult to express my thoughts.
I have a list, but will only share that with people I trust.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile, I have a fantastic smile but it makes me look weird in
any serious photography. Beyond that, you'll have to tell me.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Favorite authors would have to be Tolkien, Neal Stephenson,
Neil Gamin, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card and Barry Hughart. I
love sci-fi, historic fiction and alternative histories and
fantasy, but will read just about anything that is recommended to
me. The Omnivore's Dilemma and Fast Food Nation changed my
life.
Movies: I don't really watch movies but I love The Last Unicorn and
Dogma. I can also get into wire-fu flicks, especially bad
ones.
Music: Old school punk, paddy punk, folk rock, Celtic... the list
goes on and on. Really I only dislike new country and rap with the
exception of nerdcore.
Food: I LOVE sushi, Thai, Texmex (though it does not love me),
Mongolian BBQ and trying new things. Because of environmental and
animal welfare concerns I only eat vegetarian unless I know the
meat came from a sustainable source and yes, if you ask me about
it, I will tell you my opinions over your burger.
I tend to eat locally grown foods bought through my CSA and the
farmers' market and I am teaching myself how to garden in the
Pacific Northwest. I'm looking forward to learning how to can and
freeze fresh produce to last us during the winter when it is out of
season.
Editors
The six things I could never do without
Books, great conversation, new experiences, the internet (hey, I'm
an information junkie so the internet is the greatest invention
EVER in my opinion), air, sustenance.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm an introvert who spends WAY too much time up in her head. I
spend a lot of time thinking, period.
I'm always trying to think of ways to improve the way I live and
blog about my successes and failures. Google "Mean Green Girl" if
you're interested.
On a typical Friday night I am
I spend most of my week sleep deprived so Friday nights I'm usually
at home relaxing. Saturday nights are when I tend to go out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Hmm, like most people I'm pretty open to answering any questions
that anyone may have.
I guess I can admit that despite my award for being more aggressive
I'm a very tender hearted person and care deeply for those
individuals who I let into my life.
You should message me if
You're looking for someone who is smart, interesting and a little
odd. I can guarantee you good conversation and fun times, unless
you're a party animal who loves to spend all of their time at loud
clubs. Then I'll probably bore you to tears.
Also, my plate is pretty full right now so unless we have a pretty
high match rate or you just feel like we would get along famously
you would probably do well to look elsewhere.
Stealing this from another OkC Person because I think it's
brilliant. If you send me a wink, I will reply with one word. The
word will be either "yes" or "no"; the implicit question will be
"If I were actively looking for someone new to have sex with (which
in some cases I am), would I actively be interested in pursuing
that possibility with you?".
