My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up in a small town, the county has less than 10k population and a grand total of one stop light! Living in the city has some nice benefits, but there are things that were nice about the small town also.

I like doing outdoors things like kayaking / canoeing / fishing / swimming / going for walks / etc. I'm also a certified open water scuba diver.

While I like my outdoor activities I also like to watch movies, play video games, just sit around and watch tv (well watch hulu on my pc, but that counts right?) or play board/card games with friends.

I'm fairly laid back when it comes to finding things to do, I enjoy most things and am usually willing to try new activities. At some point I'd like to go bungee jumping, sky diving, and go do some diving somewhere tropical (at this point I've only went diving in some of the inland lakes in MI).

I tend to be a bit shy around people I don't know or don't trust (I'm working on getting better at this), but can talk to my close friends for hours on end without a problem.

I'm a firm believer that your partner should be one of your best friends. By that I don't mean you should make them your best friend; it should just kind of happen as your relationship evolves, they should be someone that makes you happy in a way that few others do. Because if they aren't why would you want to spend the rest of your life with them?

I guess what I'm mostly looking for is someone that is open minded, honest and caring.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Right now, working and relaxing mostly.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Missing IMs on here, it seems when people decide to send me an IM I've usually just closed the browser :S

Confusing people with some nice dry humor when they really aren't expecting it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm pretty quiet, at least till I get to know you or find some common interest to talk about.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I enjoyed reading A Song of Ice and Fire (the series "Game of Thrones" is based on), The codex of Alera and Malazan Book of the Fallen. I've been slowly reading Stephen Hawking's - A Brief History of the Universe, not my normal style of reading but I figured I should give it a go.

I love movies, but my taste in them is kinda all over the place... Some of my favorites are The Boondock Saints, Formula 51, Avatar, Your Highness, and Seven Pounds.

I don't watch a ton of TV shows (I just bought a TV this year after not having one for about 3 years) but there are some I really like including Mythbusters, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, House, The Big Bang Theory, Burn Notice, an occasional CSI type show, and master chef.

My musical taste is even more random than my taste in movies, I like some of pretty much everything. I generally default to Rock or Alt-Metal though. Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed are 2 of my favorite bands overall. In general I'm not a fan of country or classical music but there are exceptions to every rule.

One of my favorite quotes would have to be..

"I'd rather hate you for everything you are
Than ever love you for something you are not
I'd rather you hate me for everything I am
Than have you love me for something that I can't"

If you know where those lyrics are from *internet high five*, if you don't and are curious, when you see where they are from don't judge it based on the bands name; give them a shot and actually listen to the lyrics, you might be surprised.

I'm a big fan of food, it's pretty great. I love sushi and tend to have it at least once every few months. Chinese food is my default place to head if I cant figure out where I want to go out to eat. That being said I like trying new things, but also like traditional things like steak and potatoes, pizza, spaghetti, and hamburgers.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
5 in a random order...

Someone to talk to
A vehicle
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pretty much everything; I usually can't get my brain to shut off, even when it would be helpful if I could.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Whatever I randomly feel like doing, if I'm not working...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not really good at talking with people that I don't know, I never know what to say to someone that I really don't know much about. This makes it hard for me to meet new people, and is often times confused with disinterest.

There was a one week period where I drank 5 gallons of chocolate milk. *shrugs*

After moderating on this site for a while, I've learned a few things...
*People love to report pics that arent "allowed" (pics of dogs, feet, landscapes) even when there are tons of other pics that show the user very well.

*There are way too many dick pics that show up on profile pages only to be reported; where, oh yay, I get to see them. Just what I was looking forward to.

I'm also looking for friends to do random things with, if that's what you are looking for ignore the lower part.

*You want to get to know me better.
*You think we might have some common interests.
*You want go do something, note I need at least a week notice if it will require taking a day off work.
*Have positive input on how you think I could improve my profile.

For potential dates.

*You are not a smoker.
*Are looking for an actual meaningful relationship.
*You aren't obsessed with your chosen religion. (I don't mean I would intend to change your religious views or anything, just that me and a highly religious person probably wouldn't do well in a relationship; so if everything in your life is centered around your religion I probably wouldn't be comfortable with that.)
