I am easy going, funny, and a little shy.

My Self-Summary

I'm Chris. I'm 24 and a senior in college, pursuing an English degree. I recently moved to Illinois and I'm just hanging out and finishing up school. I like to stay in more than go out, but I'm not in any kind of routine- I'd really like to start exploring the area, just haven't met too many people yet. I like to joke around a lot and have a good time, but I'm not that into clubs or parties. I'm much happier at small get-togethers or quiet hole-in-the-wall bars. I'm got a pretty goofy/sarcastic sense of humor but I'm usually pretty reserved when I first meet people.

I love movies and boardgames (all games really). I watch movies all the time and have around 200+. I like all boardgames and I recently picked up backgammon (awesome), cribbage, canasta and farkle/zilch/10,000 (extra awesome). My ideal night consists of watching movies while playing boardgames with some good beer and food.

I'm usually piled on the couch with the dogs watching or reading something. I'm definitly a couch potato, all the way, but I try to work out a couple days a week to stay active since a don't play soccer anymore.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working on school right now. I've got a year left on my B.A. and I'll most likely go straight into my masters. I'll be working in a school next year and I'll start substituting in a year or two. Eventually, I'll be a secondary school English teacher. Who knows, I might just got straight through to my doctorate and start teaching college (skip the middle school/high school brats, haha).

I’m really good at

Learning a little bit about everything: I've taken German in school for a while and I'm kind of messing with French; tryin to figure out the piano a little, and I like drawing too, although I don't do it as much as I intend to. I like crosswords (but I'm not great), I love sudoku triples (from the paper), I do it every week and the random sudoku books from the dollar store or wherever. I've also been getting pretty good at word scrambler on my iPod (basically Boggle)- Good stuff.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know... dark hair/blue eyes...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite Book: Watchers - Dean Koontz

Recently Read: The Lure - Bill Napier

Favorite Movies: I love movies, too many favorites to list. However, the top of the list would include: Winter Passing, All the Bourne movies, Fight Club, Ocean's movies, Catch Me If You Can, North by Northwest, Grandma's Boy, Vertigo, Goodfellas, Hitchhiker's Guide, Devil's Rejects...tons more. Just got Zombieland- I've watched it twice now- hilarious! Love it!

Music: Pretty much everything, but there isn't a whole lot of country I like, and not much techno (or similar) at all.

On My iPod Right Now: Atmosphere, Aaliyah, Aesop Rock, Beck, Blackstar, Bob Marley, Citizen Cope, Clipse, Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Gangstarr, Gorillaz, Green Day, Harvey Danger, Interpol, Jack Johnson, Jaheim, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, NERD, Radiohead, RHCP, She & Him, The Killers, The Verve, Third Eye Blind, Weezer and more. Random, huh? (P.S.- No Ceilings is amazing and The Blueprint 3 is very good). I love finding new music (thanks Pandora) so let me know if you know of something I should hear.

TV: Community, Entourage, Californication, Weeds, Family Guy, Always Sunny, South Park, Lost, Generation Kill (although it's over and was only a mini-series- I liked it a lot), The Simpsons, Glee isn't bad, I've been told recently that I need to check out Flashforward (will do).

Food: I love food. I'm a Sous Chef for a local personal chef, so I get to cook pretty often and eat great food all the time. I'd say my current favorites are: this 8 hour beef brisket we've made; fig and blue cheese stuffed pork tenderloin in a port wine reduction sauce; mashed potato, sun-dried tomato, blue cheese pie/cake (it looks awesome and tastes even better); chocolate ribbon cake; Pizzoli; and the cherry pie (I eat every inch, including the crust, and I never eat crust!)

The six things I could never do without

1. My laptop- it's my movies, tv, internet and sometimes books
2. iPod/music player (recently picked up an iPod Touch- pretty cool)
3. Beer - good, dark beer (porters, stouts, and especially nut browns and ambers)
4. Sleep
5. Family
6. Coffee (every morning- [read: for at least several hours- love my coffee in the morn!])

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Next year, I can't wait to get my degree and start my master's/working in a co-op in my field.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working or just hanging out around the house. Boring, I know, but I just moved here so I'm not out partying much, plus I'm pretty easy to entertain. I'd rather hang out with a small group of people or just one and find something to do- beers, movies, bowling, boardgames, whatever fair/festival/concert is going on locally, whatever comes up really.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I own every Calvin & Hobbes book. I loved the comics growing up, and by middle school I had collected every book published.
