What I’m doing with my life
Making hats. All sorts of hats. Mostly I work for another designer, when I get the chance I also work on my own label.

In my 'spare' time, singing (shouting?) in a couple of band/project type things.

Watching and discussing films. Eating, and in between the eating talking about eating, talking about restaurants i'd like to try, talking about recipes, planning fantasy meals, planning real meals way too far in advance. Let's just say I'm enthusiastic about food.

Running. Erstwhile marathon runner.

RAVING. Gotta dance.
I’m really good at
The missing letters questions on Pointless
The first things people usually notice about me
Short, or that I look like someone they know, or someone's sister, or I look Turkish/north African/Indian/Brazilian etc etc (I'm none of those)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K Dick, Charles Bukowski, Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Plath, Iain Banks, William Gibson. Graphic novels (Alan Moore, Maus, Scott Pilgrim)

Old Hollywood musicals, especially Cole Porter. Alien. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Groundhog Day. The Human Centipede.
Heathers. In the Mood For Love. I do think Hollywood is f-ed up and that movies these days are generally not great. But I still enjoy wading through the dross.

TV - I watch all of the shows that everyone else is watching. Ain't the internet great? Louis CK is the best. I have a feeling that Lena Dunham could save Hollywood if she ever writes something that isn't about herself.

Music- 6 music is usually on at work, very rarely I'll hear something new I like. Like that really bitter but upbeat John Grant one ('etch-a-sketch your way out of this one reject') I also like that white denim one where they pretend the last 50 years of music didn't happen.

Mostly electronic music, 90s music, and my dad's record collection. Cream, dusty Springfield, fleetwood mac, sly stone. Blur, Pulp, early suede, elastica, kenickie. (yes i still listen to kenickie) wu tang, dre/snoop. PJ Harvey. Four tet, squire of gothos, ceephax acid crew, modeselektor. Jungle, old school hardcore, some techno, juke/footwork/booty bass. Acid acid acid acid. Loads of 90s and 00s rnb - destiny's child, JT, mary j, soft spot for Mariah. Really like a lot of Malian music, bassekou kouyate etc. afrobeat.

love food markets, new restaurants. All sorts. I don't mind spending too much money on good food.

Theatre - Best/most interesting I saw recently was Orpheus by The Little Bulb theatre company. Joyous stuff.
The six things I could never do without
making stuff
sitting down to a nice meal with family and/or friends
dancing to very loud bass heavy music
sunlight
