My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hard to believe, but true! Are there really guys out there who don'’t glue themselves to the television on a Sunday afternoon and answer in grunts and growls while the game is on? Yes, and I’'m one of them. I'’m a single guy without children looking to meet a woman who sparks my interest. Someone I can talk movies with over a nice dinner out. Someone I can talk movies with over a nice dinner in. Someone I can talk movies with walking in the park. Someone I can talk movies with. I am a movieaholic, a byproduct of my profession. I direct plays and much of my life centers around movies, films, and theatre, so hopefully you’re not allergic to movies or won'’t look down your nose at them.

Although physical attraction is important, I’'m interested in a woman who is more than just a pretty face. Can she throw a mean jab or uppercut? Always looking for someone to have my back in a fight, just as I'’d have hers. Someone who means what she says and says what she means. Someone who makes me think. Hopefully, I'’ll do the same for you. I don'’t smoke, but don’t mind if you do. As you can see, I'’m not really looking for a carbon copy of myself, but a few shared interests would be good. An ironic wit or pithy sense of humor always a plus!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Beyond enjoying my career, I'm invariably in the midst of one sort of eccentric project or another, usually involving the media. Write for details. They change frequently.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, which is why it's odd to be terrified of a question like this. I am a generally amiable (according to personality tests) person who is good at sensing and enjoying fulfilling the needs of others. I love to find the ironies in life to lighten the mood.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Maybe my eyes. I once got a compliment on my hands. Sure, let's go with that. I've actually been told that I have a pretty good sense of humor, which I appreciate. And that I'm nice. I pride myself on niceness. I'm not making this up. Someone actually said I was one of the nicest people they ever met.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I generally read books about the entertainment industry, so I like biographies, histories of films, collections of reviews and essays, etc. As far as movies go, I pride myself on having broad tastes. With this, I welcome you to try me. And even dramas can be fun to watch. Recently, I've raved bout everything from Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters to A Dangerous Method. My musical tastes are dangerously eclectic, but I generally enjoy older (as in forty or fifty plus years ago instrumentals or kitschy lounge) stuff. Brian Wilson's recent releases have been annual events. Food? I must tell you that I am NOT a picky eater, and I am happy with spicy or exotic food. TV is a trail of tears. I stay busy enough that I don't watch nearly enough. I generally gravitate toward geek TV of the 1960's. Things like reality tv don't interest me very much. Oddly enough, I can get into a good soap opera. My favorite show is Dark Shadows, but for the character drama.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Film. The freedom to travel wherever I want, whenever I want. Peace and quiet When I need it. The ability to laugh. The company of interesting, diverse people. And constant discussions of ideas. That's essential.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ideas for stories and media projects dominate a lot of my thinking. I am a collector of bizarre experiences (befriending professional Santas, testing board games about interpersonal relationships) , and so being open to those is vital. I am a collector of experiences, if that makes sense. I am physically clumsy, though, and I must be honest; dancing scares me because I am afraid I'll look like Elain from Seinfeld.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Usually at the movies with friends, or running home screenings at, you guessed it, my home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I wear a Scottish kilt, I always wear boxers. But not the Muhammed Ali-type.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You enjoy the eclectic and are secure in dating someone whose job is time-consuming enough that it counts for two. Also, if you have a cat, know that I really, really like them, but am allergic. As long as the room is vacuumed and there's a room that's relatively catless (in case of a severe reaction) we 're good.
