My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My belief, generally, is to "live and let live." I took this for granted growing up, but since having moved to Minnesota, I've met a number of people who do not agree. I can't stay angry for long or hold a grudge against someone. I enjoy sleeping well and enough.

I'm intelligent, a hard worker, and probably an overachiever. Independent is an apt adjective, and I guess that's why I'm here - to find other people who are also their own people.

My brain rarely shuts off. I need something to think about most of the time. I've seen life both like a series of disconnected snapshots, and also as a running, fluid video.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm considering following the academic track to become a chemistry professor. I work in a lab mixing chemicals together to make new chemicals. I'm planning on defending my thesis sometime in Fall 2014 - but nothing set in stone yet. After that's done, I plan on working in another academic lab for a couple more years - things past that point are more open-ended at the moment.

Right now my advisor and I are writing a chapter of a book. Academic-in-training.

I play softball with chemistry friends in the summer.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Consuming a morning coffee.

Puncturing my bike tires. I hate Minneapolis roads.

Not saying a lot. I'm a better listener than talker. I tend to be more observant and soak things up before making an opinion.

Some of my labmates and I make up songs, usually about one of us or another labmate, or sometimes, other people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes, I am bearded and mustached. Also, my hair is a little mussed up usually because I bike both to and from school almost every day. Otherwise, my height, I suppose.

A pedestrian excitedly said that I look like Jake Gyllenhaal. I laughed and kept on biking. Not every day somebody points out my resemblance to a movie star. Typically people around my chemistry department say they've seen my doppelganger. This has happened three or four times in the past month...guess it makes sense if people also think they look like Jake Gyllenhaal. :-p

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The present. Music. Coffee. Science - especially my chemistry labwork. Sports (my favorite to follow is basketball.). Outrageous disaster scenarios - like what happens if the Earth is struck by a gamma ray burst.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends at a bar or in playing poker. Running/biking may also be a part of it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I do not have cable.

I have my own bike. Weather permitting, I bike at least twice every day (to and from work).

I do not have a car. I can afford one, mind you, and I'm not living with my parents (they're 1000 miles away) - I choose not to have one.
