I am random, honest, and a nerd [haha].
My Self-Summary
Do I really have to write this out? I'm horrible at essays! I can't
write on this sort of thing, even if it's about me! Even I don't
know myself that well :-P Well, I guess this is a start. Better
than nothing, eh?
What am I? Jeez, I dunno. Do you know? Damn.
I guess I'll start out with, hmm, who I am. Name's Connor, pleased
t'meet ya! I'm a current student at
CBU studying Mechanical Engineering, which
basically requires me to be a nerd. I've lived in this God-forsaken
city of Memphis, TN all my life. I wish I could get out, but then
I'd be afraid of places unfamiliar, a fear that stems mostly from a
food allergy (ask me about it, if you want.) Quite a predicament,
right? However, Nashville looks promising. I wouldn't mind moving
there after school.
I graduated from MUS and my current education is basically paid
for. Am I spoiled? Hell if I would know! I don't try to think I am.
I know there are better people, richer people, more enjoyable
people out there. Sometimes I'm called modest, but I think it's
really just me being less concerned with myself and more concerned
about my friends. I'm not out to impress anyone; that's not the
road I take to gain new friends. I prefer being me and if that
turns you off, well, you're no friend of mine.
I don't like big groups. I prefer hanging in smaller groups,
because it gives me a better chance of getting to know someone
better. I tend to be shy at first (I'm working on that, though).
Stupid social anxiety.
I'm sure there's a lot more about me that I've yet to mention, but
really it'd be best to IM me to find out more. Or use a mind
reading machine, though I hear that they have shitty
reception.
Anyone else get some satisfaction from accidentally clicking an ad,
but then, with cat-like reflexes, you click the link you intended
to BEFORE the ad site loads? Ah, makes me feel warm or something
inside.
I like to make people laugh. Laughing is healthy! But sometimes my
humor can be twisted, so just go with it.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm studying to be a Mechanical Engineer. Hopefully I'll end up
doing something with cars. Also, my major has an unspoken
requirement that I become a math nerd. Ugh. Wanna see? Calculus I
-> Calculus II -> Differential Equations -> Calculus III
-> Probability -> two more semesters of math.
Yeah, damn.
I just want to get a job I enjoy and that pays enough so that I can
live comfortably. American dream, right? I can still
hope...right?
I'm also hoping to become fluent in German and its dialects. Well,
at least know Berlinisch and be able to read Plattdüütsch and maybe
a little Dutch while I'm at it.
And thanks to an unforeseen gift, I shall definitely be going to
Germany after I graduate, either for three months (if I'm alone) or
for a full year (if I can get someone to come with.)
I’m really good at
I'm good at a number of seemingly unrelated things.
I think.
I'm pretty good at most anything hands-on. [that's what she
said]
I'm have a horrible habit of saying "that's what she said", but not
always aloud, to the great relief of my friends.
I'm damn good at driving not like an asshole. :-D No wrecks (except
that one time this kid backed into me in a parking lot. How the
hell do you not see a sunshine yellow truck?!)
I'm a pretty good listener, or so my friends [are forced to]
say.
I have a pretty good knowledge of cars and their inner workings, in
particular, suspension systems and how springs and damper work in
relation to each other and to the car.
I know a lot about birds and coins (I collect coins, most evidence
of my nerditude)
Um, that's all I can think about right now.
Occasionally I'll write a pretty good poem, albeit it's usually not
in Modern English. I suck at poems but have my moments.
Example:
O my sweete mayden,
thou hast myn hart ystolen
thy yën sparckles as the morning deaw
thy lyps more plesaunt to myn yën
then that what have I ever yseene
thy vois more cheerefull then the sparwes songe
thy smile shyneth more then the morn sunne
thy buttoks thereof shal I nat speke
nat outher thereof thy maidenhede
whylest of swich thinges to thenk
mun lede to lustyheed and unwanted sead
Ah, that's the only poem I'm proud of.
The first things people usually notice about me
People usually notice how young I look. I've had guesses anywhere
between 12 and 19 and most of those guesses are 16-18. It seems no
adult can believe I'm 21. Even some of my classmates are boggled
when they realize I'm older than them (usually by a good bit,
too).
Other than that, they probably notice either my blue eyes or the
birthmark to the right of my right eye. So if you ever see me, No,
I didn't get punched in the face. Haha. People have asked me that
before. I may just go with it next time. Make something up on the
spot. "Yeah, I got in this scrap with this dude. Not my fault she
didn't tell me it was HIS apartment." Oh, I so want to do that
now.
As far as personality goes, I think people usually see the
funny/comical side of me first. That's what I aim for anyways. I
always like to be on a person's good side. If they're feeling down,
I try to cheer them up somehow. Other times I'm quiet, particularly
around new people. I'll open up if you open up, okay? Deal?

I've read a lot into philosophy recently. No one particular book,
though Bertrand Russell's "The Conquest of Happiness" was pretty
good [if you're into that sort of thing.]
The six things I could never do without
(In no particular order whatsoever...)
1) Friends
2) Friends
3) the internet
4) my car
5) my cellphone
6) Friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The physics of things, how things work, an object's properties.
Take me shopping and you'll probably notice me checking out . . .
wait for it . . . the welds on the clothing racks. Gah, what a
nerd! >_<
The occasional philosophical, existential query (such as, is what
we see, what we perceive, actually there as we see it? Or is it
fundamentally different for each living thing?)
Philosophical ponderings on religion. (Russell's "Why I Am Not A
Christian" is a really good read! As well as his "A Free Man's
Worship" essay)
Cars, cars, cars. Not just this car and that car, but the systems
behind cars: suspension, engine, drivetrain, chassis rigidity, that
sort of stuff, as well as certain modifications.
German vocab and linguistic relations! (According to my high school
Brit. Lit. teacher, I apparently discovered Grimm's Law
independently. I didn't even know there was a Grimm's Law! I was
just finding relations, like (G) Fisch -> (L) pisc- )
On a typical Friday night I am
...bored to death. Come hang with me! I won't bite!*
*(unless things progress in a direction that I was not anticipating
earlier)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a birthmark on my face and my butt.
I can't think of anything else. I don't hide much.
You should message me if
you are bored out of you mind and feel like chatting and maybe
getting a good laugh at what I may say. If I can get you to giggle,
then my plan is working...mwahaha!
Don't be afraid either! I'm the type of person that gets giddy when
someone calls or IMs me (instead of me calling or IMing them). That
you want to talk to me will make me all the more happy.
