I am inquisitive, opinionated, and contradictory.

My Self-Summary

Some random info about me - make of it what you will:

I'm usually pretty quiet until you get me talking about something i'm passionate about and then i may never shut up.

I think that regret is the worst feeling in the world. I tend to regret not doing things much more than i regret anything i have done. accordingly i like to think i'll try anything once. i've also done really stupid shit just cause i thought it would be a good story to tell later.

I played soccer and did gymnastics as a kid. I've played rugby on and off the past couple years. I'm not playing right now and I miss it desperately. Do not tell me that I don't look like a rugger unless you are trying to piss me off.

I have a puppy dog named Dante. He is awesome.

I have my ears (4 in each), belly button, and tongue pierced and three tattoos and I want more.

I love art but i'm a terrible artist (visual artist that is - i like to think i'm a pretty good writer). I love art museums. I could live in the Prado.

I speak some Spanish, some Portuguese, and some Italian. I find languages incredibly interesting and would love to learn more.

I think traveling is pretty much the most amazing thing in the world. I spent a semester in Italy in high school. I dropped out of college after a year to backpack through Latin America. There are so many places I want to visit. sometimes i find it a little depressing that I'll probably never make it to most of them.

I thrive on the chaos of big cities. Mexico City, Bogota, Buenos Aires are some of my favorite places in the world. But I also have a deep need and appreciation for the outdoors. I love hiking, camping, swimming in the ocean, and rock climbing. I love being able to see the stars at night. Finding the balance is very difficult.

I'd really like to finish college but I still don't know what I want to study. Anthropology? Sociology? English? Psychology? Nursing?

I kinda sorta lie a lot. But only about little things. Its more exaggerating or embellishing than lying really. I think I do it cause I'm desperately afraid of not being an interesting enough person. Really though I am one of the most honest and upfront people you will ever meet when it comes to anything important.

What I’m doing with my life

Living in Somerville. Working as a nanny. Thinking about going back to school. Hanging out at the dog park. Reading, writing, watching too much tv, trying to improve my cooking skills.

I’m really good at

amusing small children, memorizing things, surprising people, traveling

The first things people usually notice about me

my eyes? i'm not sure really.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a)favorite authors: Gregory David Roberts, John Irving, James Baldwin, Henry James, Shakespeare, Dante, Homer, Euripides, Marilynne Robinson, Dave Eggers, David Mitchell, John Steinbeck, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Italo Calvino, Roberto Bolaño, Umberto Eco, Gabriel Garcia Marquez...I'm a bit alarmed that there's only one woman on that list. apparently I need to find some more good female authors.

The six things I could never do without

my family and friends, my puppy dog, traveling, good books, the internet, caffeine

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How much money would someone have to pay you to get you to cut off your pinky finger? Yes you would have to do the cutting yourself. Yes you can use your weapon of choice. No you would not have anesthesia. No you could not sew it back on after.

Also: where I want to travel, what I should do with my life, how fucked up the world is, how I wish I saw my friends more often (most don't live in the area), what my next tattoo should be, the book I am reading, the story I am writing

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

hmm i'm not a very private person. ask me pretty much anything and i'll tell you.

You should message me if

you think i sound cool or we like the same books or you want to talk about south america or you think you can make my life more interesting
