I am creative, quirky, and whimsy-driven.
My Self-Summary
I *loathe* writing these things. :) I'm a
geek, I work in IT, I have 2
dogs and compete with them in
various dog sports (agility, etc). I love to cook, (but frequently
don't, because I am LAZY.) have a slight obsession with creating
the world's perfect
stir fry, I love
camping and hiking if I don't have to
carry anything heavy and it's cooler than 80 degrees. (Texas is
definitely not the best state for this... )
I write, I draw, I paint, and a variety of other creative/artsy
stuff. Currently busy lacerating the tips of my fingers, I mean
learning how to needlefelt. So far I have made a hat for something
the approximate size of a squirrel (have not yet captured a
squirrel to test, however), a corgi-shaped applique, and am working
on a nifty little dragon.
What I’m doing with my life
Working in IT. (Debian is love.)I work for a little IT company in
the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas as the junior tech- mostly
doing server and desktop maintenance and repair, along with drips
and drabs of web design.
In August, I took a weeklong camping trip to the Oregon Coast, and
had a real blast. I'm currently plotting my escape, I mean, in the
process of buying an
RV
to restore and becoming a tech/art gypsy making an living doing
website design, art and campground hosting (and attending art
festivals!)
while seeing the country and finding a place I'd like to settle
down and homestead (probably someplace desert-y and mountain-y. :)
I’m really good at
problem-solving (other people's problems only ;P), training dogs,
stage fright. Sounding incredibly self absorbed? (I promise I'm not
THAT bad.) Using passive voice.
The first things people usually notice about me
my weird sense of humor is what I would like to think. That I am a
fat chick is probably more likely.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books: Remembering to Breathe, the Temeraire series, a lot of
general sci-fi and fantasy. Mercedes Lackey & Anne McCaffery
are literary comfort food. I also love random non-fiction- right
now I am reading "Building Harlequin's Moon" by Larry Niven and
Brenda Cooper.
movies: no clue. Probably the LOTR movies- I also love the Narnia
movies and The Princess Bride. So shiny. I have a limited amount of
patience for 'serious' movies and romantic comedy. If it could
happen 'for real' to people 'just like me' what's the fun?
music: celtic, folk, and classic rock, with some occasional detours
into country and bluegrass.
food: stirfry! citrusy-flavored things. BBQ. All three at once?
Sure!
The six things I could never do without
my dogs, my computer (or at least a journal and pen!), art, books,
my family, beautiful places to visit.
To be fair? One *could* live without these things. But it'd hardly
be worth the name.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
moving someplace cooler and more scenic, plans for the future,
tricks to teach my dogs, and Halloween costumes. Zombie and raptor
attacks. How to break the 350K barrier I'm stuck at in Bejeweled
Blitz. (HAH, 309K, take that stupid cubes!)
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. :P I know, boring, but I teach a class that meets on
fridays currently.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I hate meeting people, which is why I have no social life. At the
same time, I'm a pretty social person. I just hate all the awkward
'getting to know you' stuff.
You should message me if
you feel like it?
