Right now? Listening to (and loving to death) The Decemberists
Rinde Eckert and the Paul Dresher Esnemble Electro-Accoustic
, Camper Van Beethoven
Movies? Too many, to count. I love fantasy and monsters (zombies
crack me up), foreign films (Night Watch, The Host), Peter Jackson
animated films, documentaries--just about anything that either
makes me laugh, makes me think, heavily stimulates my imagination
or simply keeps me distracted. I don't care much for what I call
"cringe humor," stuff like The Office. Not to say I haven't watched
it on occasion and laughed, but I cannot linger for too long.
Perhaps I am too empathatetic. I dislike most reality
TV--especially the current trend of talent competition shows--for
the same reasons. Those shows give me cramps.
I love to read, and can never make enough time to do it. I really
dislike, "What is your favorite" -type questions, they're so
limiting...but the books that have left a lasting impression upon
me (and for that reason spring immediately to mind) both past and
present are; GEEK LOVE by Katherine Dunn, THE MASTER AND MARGARITA
by Mikhail Bulgakov, THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF CAVALIER AND CLAY by
Michael Chabon, and PATTERN RECOGNITION by William Gibson, THE
SPARROW by Mary Doria Russell. Lately I've been reading Jonathan
Carroll (LAND OF LAUGHS, THE GHOST IN LOVE). I'm an avid follower
of the Fortean Times.
...mind you, those are the handful I thought of this week, ask me
next week and you'll more than likely get another answer.
