I am intelligent, quirky, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I value self-reflection and growth, responsibility, open-mindedness, life long learning, peace, harmony, nature.

I enjoy hiking, reading especially fantasy novels, theater, art, stupid internet quizzes, reptiles, cats, watching tv, playing sports in a non-competitive environment, etc.

I was born and raised in Florida, moving to NM in 2007. I find it to be incredibly beautiful here, though I do miss Oak trees covered in spanish moss, and driving past/being near water regularly.

I'm pretty damn dorky, nerdy, and a tiny bit geeky. I'm in between an introvert and an extrovert and pretty socially awkward at times. I enjoy being silly and dancing around at home or wherever in a goofy way.

I've been working on becoming more true to myself and undoing the (negative) influences of my past. I believe that self-reflection and self-growth are incredibly important and one should never cease to consciously change and evolve throughout life..

I love animals, I enjoy volunteering, I prefer open minded people and those who stick to their beliefs but do so with respect and consideration for others as well.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working on a Master's in Occupational Therapy so that I can work with kids with disabilities, after a foray into Rehabilitation with adults. I graduate in Dec 2009..

I just started my second 12 week internship, this one is with APS.

Oooh Oooh Ooohhh..!! I'm taking a clay sculpture class once a week and LOVING it. Working with the clay is almost like meditating. I'm working on a sculpture of an Ornate Monitor Lizard right now..

Finally getting my act together and living a bit healthier. I'm still not so good at getting exercise in, except for hiking a couple times a month, but I've managed to start eating a lot better- and have lost 43 lbs since July 08 . I'm not so worried about losing weight for appearances sake, but for my overall health. I have a bad family history on both sides for diabetes, cancer, heart disease, etc so I need to cut all of the personal risk factors that I can to remain healthy.

I’m really good at

Uhmmm... academia, writing, creating things out of clay (or at least I used to be.. its been a while), and anything I put my mind to (well.. except for figuring out how to eat and drink without spills.. and uhmm how to stop running into door jams and such).

The first things people usually notice about me

Apparently how young I look. At exhale one night someone asked if I were really old enough to be there, because I looked 16. At my current internship I was mistaken for one of the middle school students.

Other times its my t-shirts. I have one that says "Vagina Is For Lovers" .. I got it from a showing of the Vagina Monologues at my undergrad college. the back says "until the violence stops". etc. It gets some crazy stares after people realize it doesn't say "virginia" .

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books : The Saga of Recluse series by L.E. Modessit Jr. The Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan. An Occupational Perspective of Health by Ann Wilcox. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. The Stranger, by Camus. I love fantasy novels, but I also like self-help, psychology, biology, philosophy and occupational therapy/science.

Movies: Rain Man, Pay it Forward, Harry Potter series, Shrek movies, Wedding Singer, Pan's Labrynth, I am Sam, Dirty Filthy Love... etc.

Music: It really depends on my mood. I've had a phase in my life for most types of music- Weird Al/They Might Be Giants, hard rock, punk, country, more mellow stuffs, etc etc and so find myself now in more of an eclectic phase determined mainly by mood. Since I've been going out dancing more I'm finding there are actually a few hiphop/rap songs that I like.. not so much for the lyrics but for how my body feels and the desire to dance to them.

Food: Sushi!!! Chinese, Mexican, New Mexican, Thai, Italian... I tend not to eat beef or pork. But LOVE dairy and carbs. I'm eating more and more vegan and vegetarian food lately, yummy.

The six things I could never do without

I can do categories right? not just individual items...

Contact with others (humans and animals)

Learning (books, internet, introspection, observation)

Nature

Music

My car (hate to say it, but i went without for a while and it was rough given internships and such)

air conditioning in the summer ( I grew up in south Florida, and here I am in NM and still love my ac. I don't mind being outside during the day, but for sleeping I neeeed to be cool.)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Oi, too much! Who I am. What I believe. The many balances that life seems to require and how to maintain them.

On a typical Friday night I am

Reading, watching tv, sleeping, playing my nintendo DS <3 Super Mario Bros and Brain Age.. or something similar. So exciting right?!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My priorities are myself (being mentally, emotionally, and physically healthy), my schooling, and my current partner (though not always in that order).

Yes, I currently have a long-term partner. We have an open/poly relationship. And I have a new girlfirend! yay!

If I divulge everything about myself here... we won't have anything to talk about when you email me or when we meet!

You should message me if

I'm not really looking for anyone. I have two wonderful people in my life now and am quite content as is. Chit chat and friendship won't ever be turned down, but I tend to be pretty busy with my internship, husband, and girlfriend so I may not be terribly punctual with responses.
