My self-summary
If you can quote a passage from your favorite piece of literature, I want to hear it. If you are deathly afraid of mediocrity, we can fight it together. If "do not go softly into that good night" speaks to your soul, then let's get a bottle of wine and you can tell me your story.

I am a quiet person. People around town call me 'Otto'. If you are in the local scene, that gives away a lot, doesn't it. I love Art Deco, Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, old nautical art, staying up late listening to jazz with a fine liqueur in hand. I prefer pencil and paper over computer. Was an M.C. in the punk-cabaret scene for a while. I enjoy good tea. I know how to change diapers and I'm not afraid to do it.

I loved being a husband and doing things with a partner. I want that again one day and with someone who inspires me to be a better person. I love the challenge of communicating in another language. I am saving up so I can travel again one day soon. I enjoy sports only sometimes, roller derby being one of my favorites to watch. I like hiking and astronomy. I once had a job that allowed me pick up some of an obscure Native American language.

I think nerd girls are stone awesome.

If you have anything to do with that downtown OklahomaCity/Salyer/Magnolia rooftop/Caliber art scene, then you are not relationship material and you need to stay away from my beautiful life. I have two kids and I don't want the darkness brought into their lives from that diseased, studio 54 wannabe, narcissism-fest. So far the number of families destroyed by that crowd exceeds the number of artists it has helped become successful. Otherwise...
What I’m doing with my life
By day I work in IT. Nights I teach government and political philosophy as an adjunct at a local university. I play drums for a local ensemble. Also pursuing inner stillness. For the health of my own soul I follow the Eastern Orthodox path.
I’m really good at
doing festive stuff with my kids, teaching classes, listening, picking up languages, wondering why I walked into a room, pushing the limits of my wasabi tolerance, urban hiking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I always seem to have something on my mind.

The six things I could never do without
* the love of my kids. It sustained me through difficult times.
* facial hair (on me)
* spontaneous road trips
* old books
* chilly overcast days
* Vince Guaraldi "Charlie Brown Christmas"
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my children's future; how to build a family and not a loose collection of self-interested individuals
On a typical Friday night I am
...torn between having a beer with quirky friends or finding a quiet cafe where I can catch up on some reading, usually something ancient and mysterious.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Some music touches me so deeply I cannot describe it. Also I've always had a secret desire to disappear in an eastern culture. It would be nice to share the adventure.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 35–45
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
... if you don't change personalities for different crowds.
... if you know the difference between a career and a party scene.
... if you know the difference between a personality and a manufactured persona.
... if you are looking for a man to be your partner and not an accessory to an image-conscious lifestyle.
... if you feel a relationship is worth fighting for.
Those things would be a good start.
