I am compassionate, a good cook, and smart..

My Self-Summary

Hmmm... I'm scared of spiders and heights, but I'm not afraid to fly on an airplane. Traveling is exciting to me - both in the states and out. I love my family, my God, and my friends. I've learned that life is way too short to worry about too much. I laugh a lot and tend to make a lot of jokes. I don't like drama (unless it's a play or musical). One of my favorite places is under the tree, next to the fish pond in my backyard - listening to the water trickling. I enjoy reading, cooking, playing volleyball, camping, fishing, watching a good movie, and listening/singing music. I get nervous when I meet new people. I am more introverted than extroverted, but I like doing all kinds of things - alone or in a group. I try to be up-to-date on news and politics, but I don't argue or talk about them often. I enjoy quirky jokes and trying new things (as long as it doesn't involve eating raw meat or jumping from a plane). Ummm...the only other thing I can say is GO HOOS! Phew...enough about me!

What I’m doing with my life

I definitely didn't go into it for the pay, but I'm a clinical social worker worker. I like my work, but don't live for it. You'd be surprised, though, how many people ask you for help, advice, resources, diagnoses!??!, and more when they know what you do. I guess it's like that with anything though. My dad is a mechanic and people are always asking him for car advice. At any rate, I like to help people, so I guess I'm in the right field! Right now I am working for a school system in the capacity of (you guessed it) a social worker. I'm licensed for clinical work but I don't try to psychoanalyze everyone with whom I come into contact. (Apparently this is a big worry for people??!) Everyone has a little "crazy" in them, even me...of course if you have a lot "crazy"...might want to look elsewhere (ha ha). In addition to social work, I also have a part-time job as an on-line instructor for a college.

I’m really good at

cooking, writing, making quilts, canning vegetables and jams, winning at board games (but I'm not at all competitive...wink, wink), listening, and talking.

The first things people usually notice about me

I try hard to make other people comfortable - even when I'm not.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite books are As I Lay Dying, apologetic writing by CS Lewis and other authors, the Bible, Jane Eyre and To Kill A Mockingbird. My favorite movies are An Affair to Remember, Lord of the Rings, Sleepers, To Kill a Mockingbird (I sense a trend...), It's a Wonderful Life, and Schindler's List. I like all types of music including country, rock, some kinds of alternative and blue grass, classical, choral, musicals, and Christian contemporary. And my all time favorite - Christmas music (yes, even in July). I like to try several types of food including Thai, Mexican, Indian, Chinese, and especially Italian. I have recently learned how to make California Rolls (yum).

The six things I could never do without

I could not do without my Bible, my family, slurpees (not slushees, not Icees, *SLURPEES*), a kitchen aid mixer, a toothbrush, and my truck.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes people do what they do.

On a typical Friday night I am

On a typical Friday night I could be doing any type of activity: watching a movie, spending time with my nieces and nephews, visiting a friend, hosting skit practice at my house, having a game night for the girls or traveling. Sometimes I just go to bed early and sleep in!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Sheesh! The most private thing that I'm willing to admit is that I'm very afraid of spiders...so afraid in fact that recently I was reading a story to my friend's two-year-old. I should have known better because it was one of those discovery science books with the pictures. I turned the page and there was a big, scary spider. Before my brain could recognize it as a picture, I threw the book across the room...oops...My friend laughed herself silly. Ummm...I'd like to say that was the first and only time that ever happened...I'd LIKE to say that.

You should message me if

You should message me if you are interested, can kill spiders/bait hooks (not required), can pass a common sense test, and are serious about your Christian faith.
