My self-summary
A woman placed a personal ad that said, "I want a man who won't push me around, who won't run around on me and who is a good lover". She waited and waited, but she got no response. After a while she forgot about the ad. One day as she was getting ready to leave the house her doorbell rang. She opened the door and there sat in a wheelchair a man with no arms and no legs. He said "I'm here to answer your personal ad". She smiled, because she didn't want to hurt his feelings and said "I don't think you are my type". He said "but your ad said you wanted a man who won't push you around, I can't because I have no arms. You said you want a man who won't run around on you, and I can't because I have no legs. Again she smiled saying "but I also said that I wanted a good lover". Then he said "well, I rang the doorbell didn't I".

I like this joke because I identify with the man in the wheelchair. No, I'm not quadriplegic, but I do think that most women I meet are not patient enough to identify my real talents. And yes, my talents extend beyond the sexual. I work hard at being a good person, I know how to talk to people, I understand the value of treating people the way I'd like to be treated. I'm committed to personal growth. Children, dogs and mothers like me, I refuse to take myself seriously and I'm not shy about hard work. If I know you really need it, I'll give you the shirt off of my back. I'm not afraid to operate outside of my comfort zone. I'm fifty-two years old, five foot six, One-hundred and seventy well-muscled pounds, a good lover, happy in my career, no children, I love to read, learn new things, and I workout six days week. I like helping people, adventure, avoiding trouble, sleep, conspiracy theories, testing limits, and philosophizing. So, if I have all that going for myself, why am I on ok cupid? . Because I think it's wise to pursue all paths to one's hearts desires.

What is my heart's desire? Simple, a Black woman who will love me like I will love and adore her. I want her to be healthy, physically fit, sane, spiritual, attractive (to me), in love with her people and herself, and have the capacity to be a great mother. In essence, someone priceless.

I am open to other women of color, but it has been my experience that the daughters of Africa are most likely to understand the methods to my madness. While they do not always agree, they almost always understand. And I think that level of understanding is crucial to the love that I would like to build with her. Are you still reading? I admire your patience. The love I am looking for is not just to make me feel good, although that is a wonderful side benefit. The love that I'm looking for is a cornerstone of the life that I would like to build with her. This love will sustain the environment that we will raise our children in to become productive members of society. This love will empower us to build and support our community. This love will comfort and amuse us in our old age.

If you think that you might like to conversate (yes, I know it's not a word but I just like saying it), drink a Corona, see a movie, eat dinner, see an Off-Broadway play, take a road trip, lick an ice cream cone, wander around a museum, listen to some jazz, R& B or intelligent hip-hop, go to church, or take a walk with a cute single African-American, professional, athletic, healthy and relatively sane man, please write to me. I would love to hear from you.
What I’m doing with my life
Still growing up, but I'm making real progress, I swear.
I’m really good at
Making outrageous and obviously untrue statements with a straight face. Its a gift ;)

Getting babies to stop crying.

Being diplomatic.

Communicating with people without a common language.
The first things people usually notice about me
The way I walk. A co-worker once told me I walk like I'm "on my way to kick someone's ass". A stranger on the street stopped me to say "If you don't own this entire block, no one would ever know it by the way you walk". I cherish both compliments because the way one walks is the perfect metaphor for how one lives.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I tend to read Walter Mosley and Eric Jerome Dickey the day they go on sale and I really miss Octavia Butler. With The Man in My Basement, The Fortunate Son and Killing Johnny Fry Mosley out did himself. Dickey's Gideon is my inner hit-man, and Butler's Parable of the Sower expands the possibility of the improbable.

I've never heard a song by Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder or KRS-ONE that I didn't like.

Retirement
On a typical Friday night I am
Traveling up and down the East Coast.

Solving other people's problems.

Happily unconscious on my couch.

Making waffles and strawberry/banana/blueberry smoothies, which tends to cause the previously mentioned unconsciousness.

Enjoying some live performance that's more compelling than my couch and Netflix.

Resenting the fact that I have to get up early for work on Saturday.

Zooming through Central Park on my electric skateboard.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I told you, you would stalk me ;)
