My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Here some bits and pieces about me...

I grew up in the Midlands and moved around a fair bit in my early twenties including teaching English in Greece and Spain. After that, I moved to London and have been here for eight years so far doing lots of different things.

For work I write for a living. I've got two kids' novels out so far and another on the way. So far, they tend to lean towards more a gothic, darkly humorous style. However, once the new one and its sequel are done and dusted I'd love to do a more grown up book (although this may be a disaster!). Also, I manage a legal news/advice website (not very glamorous but pretty stimulating and its gives me a place to do more journalism, which is great), and travel around the country teaching creative writing in schools. The classes are great fun and pretty surreal as I get to talk about zombie islands, spaceship cannibalism and rampaging hydras for a living!

I'm a bit of a learning nut as well and really enjoy absorbing new information and ideas. I've studied a fair bit too and ended up with two masters degrees in Egyptology and Global Politics. I'd like to do more sometime soon too.

Re music I'm listening to a lot of Wolf Parade, Nick Cave, Trampled by Turtles and Springsteen. If it twangs or rocks I'm in, and I enjoy gigs too but don't seem to go to as many as I'd like.

I love watching a good film. The last one I saw in the cinema was Interstellar and I have a well-used netflix account. Recently saw Guardians of the Galaxy and thought it was great too; definitely my kind of humour!

Finally, I read a fair bit but don't have a particular favourite genre. Reading Shantaram at the moment.

I LOVE watching a good film too. My favs are The Darjeeling Ltd and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (not the most high-brow but it makes me laugh every time). Last film I saw in the cinema was Boyhood.

I read a fair bit but don't have a particular favourite genre. At the moment I'm reading a lot of crime novels for some reason.
