Romance has not been in the cards for me in the years since my
husband died, but the dream of it, is of course, wonderful. If it
happened I would welcome it but I am also willing to be just plain
practical right now. I'd like to grow a sense of family in my life
because I am so much an orphan. On the other hand (and there
usually is another one) I am loving my complete lack of anyone
asking anything of me. I am learning to live for myself for the
first time in my life and it is great.
Never had kids but I raised five step children (who are off in
their world now that their father has died). My siblings are all
off in their own worlds too. I miss male companionship - terrific
male companionship. A business partner to help me start a writers'
retreat on my land in Nicaragua would be fine....or I'd love a
friend who liked jazz, movies and good conversation....
I have benefitted from an excellent education and vast and
interesting life experience. I've lived and worked on many
continents. I've been a lawyer, teacher and professor and now
consider myself a writer and artist.
If you are a widower you will probably understand me better than
others. I am the widow of a very successful and happy 20 year
marriage with a soul mate so I was lucky and now very picky. I have
known what it is to have marriage and commitment with a soul mate
and I also know what sound financial partnership feels like. It
feels really good. I am selfish enough to want to experience that

What I’m doing with my life
Terrific interesting things....would love to share this with
another who wants a full, loving, and sexually and emotionally
committed relationship til death do us part.... I have travelled
the whole world in two different careers (teaching and law), am
semi-retired, own land in Nicaragua, often own sailboats, love
reading and music and conversation and love.....am very involved
right now with creating widow/widower groups all over the country
to help these sad people recover...I call my method "Loving
yourself back into life - a survivor speaks out"....
I’m really good at
...anything verbal, like writing and editing and conversation but
also am a visual artist...Mostly a painter......swimming, sailing,
laughing at good jokes....story telling.....being
truthful......horsemanship...finding my way around even a strange
new environment.....finding my way 'round the Paris airport....and
The first things people usually notice about me
I am very young looking for my age. I laugh a lot. I love a good
joke although I am the most gullible person in the world.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Country Girls by Edna O'Brien; Daphne DuMaurier novels like Rebecca
(great murder mystery); Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy
Toole; Stranger than Fiction (movie)with Dustin Hoffman and Will
Ferrell ....John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins.....
The six things I could never do without
Ocean, water of any kind, mountains, trees, nature in general -
wildness..... watching Kingfishers dive.....
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe....how there could never by nothing
because there is always going to be something to be aware that
there is nothing.....
I try not to think too much but it comes way to naturally to stop
and be in the moment but as we all know this is almost unattainable
but a good goal.....
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting off work in West Marin (my writing) and heading for a walk
on the beach or an evening of cooking and reading and listening to
music....Nature works for me. Love watching Kingfishers and herons
and otters.....Don't like going to concerts , plays etc alone which
is one reason I am looking for a partner...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have been undiagnosed ADD all my life but only figured it out
about two weeks ago....
You should message me if
You are not just looking for extra curricular activities outside of
relationships you are already in (or cannot let go of), are not
drug or marijuana or alcohol or sex-addicted, see yourself as
old-fashioned, like the concept of a "date", are looking for some
companionship that leads to marriage and do not just want a pen pal
or a dating buddy for movies - and - you are not a Republican! I'm
left of Obama but becoming more and more apolitical as I try to
just focus on my own world. Would always vote for Ralph Nader or
Winona Laduke if given the opportunity
