I am snarky, witty, and picky.

My Self-Summary

I'm into music, I play piano and sing, and I can't be doing with spiders, one of which is crawling up my wall even now. I'm a film addict, with special liking for the utterly wonderful Tim Burton and Luc Besson, both of whom i adore. I read all the time as well, with an eclectic taste ranging from cheap tacky bestsellers like Laurell K. Hamilton to Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy. er, i hope that's enough. ;)

What I’m doing with my life

ooh - update time. i am now in fact living in scotland! big changes! no work right now, though. I'm waiting to find the thing that i REALLY want to do with my life that isn't totally unrealistic. I mean, a girl can't get by on baking cupcakes for her friends and reading books, can she now...

I’m really good at

music. singing, playing, listening... I knit and make jewellery as well, and you know knitting is fashionable again, so I'm clearly right on the beat. or something. most of the other things i'm good at probably shouldn't be mentioned in a public site.

The first things people usually notice about me

my eyes and my... assets. and how loud i am

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) Memoirs of a Geisha, The Princess Bride, Anansi Boys, anything, in fact, by neil gaiman, and non-fiction like the man who ate the world, which is very funny and classy. I also make every effort to read Lord of the Rings once a year. And, weirdly, I didn't steal that idea from Christopher Lee, I've been doing it since i was about 13.

B) Star Wars, the Princess Bride, gone with the wind, Lord of the Rings, anything with Sandra Bullock in it, because she's amazing, and any audrey hepburn movies

C) anything by tori amos, seth lakeman, kate bush, old peter gabriel

D) chocolatey things. and pringles. also italian food. and thai. and indian. not slimy things, though. so no silky tofu or oysters or okra. and this morning, pancakes for breakfast, with loads of cinnamon and just a teeny bit of golden syrup. I almost enjoy cooking more than i do eating, but it's a very close call. particularly with cupcakes. this week's recipe: Ginger cupcakes with brown sugar icing.

The six things I could never do without

er.... Vaseline - that means lip balm, you filthy minded perve ;), bottle of water (but filtered tap water put into a bottle, not needlessly expensive and ecologically ruinous spring water), notebooks, good chocolate, new shoes, and music

I spend a lot of time thinking about

knitting projects, finding a nicer job. and also about how chemistry is very *very* elusive, but worth keeping looking for. (and sometimes it really does come along... who knew?)

On a typical Friday night I am

likely to be watching movies, either at home or out in the big wide world of the independent cinema

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

that i have a secret penchant for men with bad hairstyles...

You should message me if

you have a sense of humour, and i mean a real one. not just the kind of sense of humour that laughs at people on You've Been Framed. that's NOT a sense of humour.
