My self-summary
I have a hard time writing this as anything other than a technical document; listing facts about myself as bullet points with brief, terse descriptions. Ahh the joys of years of technical writing for work/school.

Anyway.

I'm honest (honestly), often to my own detriment. I'm rational and level headed. I'm logical (except when I'm not). I'm more open about my feelings and than you might expect, but likely less than you might want. I am male after all, its a common affliction. I have an often dry, sometimes silly sarcastic sense of humor. Monty Python and Eddie Izzard featured prominently in its development.

I'm a townie, went away to college in Rochester and came back to Ithaca for a job. I'm a geek, I play lots of video games, work in computing and spent most of my free time in high school playing D&D. I'm not nearly as socially incompetent as my hobbies and profession might imply, but I am a failr introverted person.

I recently bought myself a motorcycle and got my license. It is probably the single best purchase I have ever made, there is just something bizarrely zen about getting yourself lost in the country for a few hours.

I have always been interested in how and why people think the way they do, and the beliefs they have as a result. I enjoy friendly, interesting discussions on philosophy, religion and politics. I've always had a fascination with history and will geek out for hours about ancient rome. I have a growing interest in economics (thank you Planet Money) and would love for someone to talk to about it!
What I’m doing with my life
Working, eating, sleeping. You know, the usual.
I’m really good at
Computery (shush, it's a word) stuff, drinking coffee, being obnoxious. Pretending to be more introverted than I actually am.

I make very good pesto from scratch. Feel free to swoon.
The first things people usually notice about me
Posture? People used to tell me I walked like a Ballet dancer all the time.

Ehh, lets not lie, its probably my height.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Finally, a section I can break down into lists!

Authors: Elizabeth Moon, Harry Turtledove, Peter Singer, Richard Dawkins. Mostly Fantasy and Sci-Fi, but I throw in some science and philosophy here and there.

Movies: Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Fight Club, Monty Python(all of them), Serenity,

TV: Top Gear(British version), Bones, Castle, Star Trek, How I Met Your Mother, Community, Better off Ted, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica(new version), Black's Books, The Big Bang Theory, The Newsroom, Warehouse 13, Game of Thrones.

I'm currently secretly/not so secretly enjoying New Girl as well.

Podcasts: I listen to an absurd number of NPR podcasts, favorites include This American Life, Planet Money, Snap Judgement and 99% Invisible. Non-NPR podcasts include You Look Nice Today, The History of Rome and Gamers With Jobs.

Music: Indie, electronic, Hard Rock, Metal, Dubstep, pretty much anything but rap

Bands: Tool, Spineshank, Covenant, Nightwish, Elefant, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, I am jen, The Decemberists, Iron and Wine, Of Monsters and Men, Sigur Ros, Cake, many others

Food: Mexican, Italian, American. I'm pretty easy when it comes to food, I'll try anything once.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order...
Google
Coffee
My phone
A towel (get it? No? Ok...)
Friends
My Computer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to do for the weekend. How much I want a dog but my apartment would be shitty for one.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out at home watching a movie/tv or playing games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
This isn't really a secret, but I was a ballet dancer for around 6 years in middle and high school. I have done more performances of the Nutcracker than I can remember.

Ohh, how about this? I'm afraid of snakes. No, you don't understand -- "scream like a little girl", Indiana Jones level afraid of snakes. Snakes On A Plane? Worst movie ever.

You feel like getting to know an intelligent, laid back guy who has most of his shit together.

You're capable of constructing readable English sentences sans "aim speak".

You have an awesome British accent. Seriously, I am a huge sucker for it.
