I have strong opinions (though they can and have changed) on a lot of issues, and enjoy finding where I stand when I don't have an opinion already. I like bouncing ideas off of my friends and having them bounce ideas off me. When I disagree with someone I like to have a discussion about why we disagree (that can drift towards debate). I don't want to just debate over surface issues, but rather look at deeper aximoatic beliefs. I want to know why we believe the things that we believe. I know that upon introspection my beliefs have changed significantly. In terms of the sorts of topics that generally engage me, I especially enjoy politics and philosophy, though I've been known to have deep conversations on subjects like the social structure of a workplace.

Also, if you see a profile on here that looks really similar to mine, it belongs to my twin brother. My roommate said they were amusingly similar.

I'm currently working as a software engineer in Mountain View after having finished my Computer Science degree at Harvey Mudd college in Claremont, which is near LA. I really like working here in Silicon Valley. I think the valley manages to attract a lot of really smart, dedicated people who create an amazing work environment. I still haven't decided if I want to become a start up person or if I will eventually shift over to more subdued companies.

Outside of work I keep myself occupied by organizing parties with friends, trying to keep in shape rock climbing and just relaxing. I'm often up for going to random events that people suggest, or I suggest them myself. Sometimes that doesn't work out (I accidentally dragged some friends to a laughably bad street fair once), but most of the time it is quite fun.

I'm good at programming. I have a knack for the sort of logical thinking that you need in order to be able to really understand and write code. Listening to people's problems and calming them down when they are sad is something I seem to have the knack for. As you might guess from my Self Summary, I'm pretty good at arguments and debate. I can often manage to inject some humor into a situation. One of my friends said I'm fun to be around because I have a way of making things interesting... I choose to interpret that comment in a positive light.

I don't take myself too seriously and expect the same of pretty
much everyone I meet. I enjoy having a good laugh. If you want to take the question literally I've been told that I have a blueish eyes brown hair combination that is commonly considered attractive.

Books:
A Deepness in the Sky which may be the best fleshed out space opera ever and everything else by Vernor Vinge. I like Neal Stephenson's books because they always touch on interesting subjects. Jim Butcher and Sergei Lukyanenko have both written brilliantly fleshed out fantasy worlds. Niven, Heinlein, and Charles Stross are all good as well.

TV:
I tend to enjoy watching plot unfold and character development, so I prefer TV shows to movies, which all sort of blend together. Buffy and Farscape are great examples of interesting plot driven shows. In terms of more character driven shows, I watched Supernatural for a long time.

Food:
I like lots of types of food. To name a couple: Beef Stroganoff, Swedish Meatballs, Pizza, Indian, pasta with lots of stuff, and enough of the lunch places near my office that I have trouble making myself bring lunch.

I need the internet in order to keep connected with the world
around me. Good books to engage my imagination. Friends with whom I can have interesting conversations. Interesting work to make sure my day isn't boring and wasted. Philosophical issues to mull over. Good and varied food to liven the day. Finally, something to look forward to in the future, a goal I'm working towards.

I guess it's pretty simple. At the end of a day I want to look back
on what I did and be happy. I want to look forward into the future and see new and interesting things for myself. If those weren't true then life would be kinda pointless.

The philosophical basis for my world view. I spend a lot of time thinking about what to base a moral system on, and how different choices affect your outlook on the world. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I enjoy considering imaginary worlds from books or fleshing out those of my own invention. On a practical note, looking for something fun to do the following weekend can fill up time surprisingly quickly.

I spend my free time relaxing at my computer, reading books, throwing parties with friends, or going on excursions to interesting sounding events like Ren Faire.

I'm a closet romantic.
