My self-summary
I live in a beautiful piece of paradise along the river. I enjoy gardening. I can be considered a master gardener at this stage. Over the years my interest has expanded into water or bog gardens and I tend to have an appreciation of natural gardens. I've grown my own magnolia trees and rhodos by seed and have just recently seen the fruits of my labour. I prefer a laissez faire approach to gardening now, and allow nature to dictate to me, rather than me impose on it. I have a jungle growing in my sunroom, which allows for the winter months to pass far more quickly.
I love animals. I own two huge dogs, who are the loves of my life.
I also take care of barncats and believe strongly in spay/neuter programs.
My dogs are Newfoundlanders. The most loyal and overbearing dogs one can own. As Lord Byron wrote, "all the virtues of man, with none of his vices". Try swimming with a newf, or coming in from a boat ride. I've had this breed for over twenty years, and although I keep saying this is it, will probably wind up with yet another Newfoundlander.
I am totally into my 3 older teenaged boys, and love nothing more than sitting down to a huge meal with all of us together.
I am a young 52, both mentally and physically and require the same from you.
I consider myself to be fit. I practice yoga on my own as often as possible. I also drop in to class from time to time, just to keep me on track. By no means am I a fitness freak though. My preferences are wool and cotton over Spandex any day. And I don't believe that labels can make us any fitter.
Music is a huge part of my life. My roots are in Van Morrison and John Martyn, but will listen to most any music as long as it's good. I've been listening to a lot of Daniel Lanois, Wallflowers, Ryan (not Brian) Adams, Emmylou Harris and lots of indy. There are so many great musicians out there. Lately, I find the East coast putting the rest of Canada to shame which is reflective both musically and literary wise.
I love dining on my front porch in summer and always hope a guitar or two finishes up the evening.
What I’m doing with my life
I am moving forward in my life. I was married for over twenty years, and my kids are getting older and come and go as they please. It's now my turn to discover new experiences while I am still young enough to enjoy them.
I’m really good at
Making people smile. I believe I have a good sense of humour and love to find folly in day to day situations. I tend to be witty and loaded with sarcasm.
The first things people usually notice about me
My unique style, my eyes? So many to mention! That I look and appear younger than my age? I find this a difficult question as I've never asked anybody what they notice first about me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have always been involved in the literary field, whether on the publishing side, or the retail side. I read a lot of books. I consider them to be my personal movies. I like any good story. I tend to shy away from nonfiction politics. I enjoy books that teach you something new about life. As the saying goes, there is more truth in fiction than non fiction. If I had to choose one author, it would be John Irving. He allows the reader to feel so many emotions from chapter to chapter. He can be both belly laughing stupid, or make that laugh fade during the next paragraph. I can read him anytime, he just doesn't write enough. Yet all in all, I read mostly Canadian authors. I tend to sway towards the East coast for a good fulfilling read most of the time.
I love good food. Wholesome food. Seafood, good cheese and great bread. Am partial to a good rib steak as well. I tend to eat healthy and rarely venture into fastfood places. I prefer a small cafe that serves good coffee over Tim Hortons, any day. I would prefer to find our own great hidden restaurant, rather than venturing into a critically acclaimed "must go".
I am all over the map when it comes to music. I love going to live shows and tend to gravitate towards Canadian Indy artists.
The six things I could never do without
Love, my kids, music, laughter, animals , nature
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My family and their needs.
On a typical Friday night I am
I try and get out and socialize at a local pub where everybody knows me, my family and cares about us. It's an awesome spot! This doesn't happen as often as it should. On other Friday nights I sometimes like to cook a relaxed dinner with friends and family.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I am an open book. LOL!

You should message me if
You should message me if you have a love of life. Like lots of laughter, quiet talks, and cherish moments spent alone with someone special. As I live in a rural setting, I'd prefer someone who also loves to wake up and take a huge gulp of fresh air. I'd like to hear from somebody who appreciates the casual, less hectic way of life and who can be partners in being my other silly.
