My self-summary
I'm very left wing...if you're racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, hate poor people, are mean to waitstaff, or get teary-eyed when you hear the national anthem then we probably won't get along.

I'm passionate about changing the world, which I try to contribute to through organizing, and writing.

That said, the only way to stay sane while being a lefty (and doing something about it) these days is to have a sense of humor. I like to make people laugh and am drawn to people who can do the same.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to contribute to making the world a better place in various ways...but I'm not a goody two shoes, though, or a bleeding heart type. Sometimes I think my instincts tend towards the opposite, but I live here as well, and don't like all the injustices that make life much worse than it has to be. Beyond that, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, movies, and partying. For my job, I'm in the public health field. I take my work seriously and find it rewarding.
I’m really good at
Writing. I can write the fuck out of an article. Side control (in BJJ).
The first things people usually notice about me
My butt (from behind). Smile (from the front).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Marx (capital volume 1), James Baldwin (Another Country, Fire Next Time), a Handmaid's Tale, Post Office, the New Jim Crow. Just reread Women, Race and Class by Angela Davis, which is fantastic.

BARBARA DANE! If you haven't heard of her, look her up...epic. Lately, I really like Hazel Dickens, Sarah Ogan Gunning, Woodie Guthrie...left folk/country. Grew up on hip hop.

Dr. Strangelove. Salt of the Earth. The Big Lebowski. Lots of documentaries, especially Harlan County: USA, and Finally Got the News, Slingshot Hip Hop, etc. My favorite Nicolas Cage movies are "Wild At Heart", "Moonstruck" and "Face/Off"

No Reservations, Trailer Park Boys, Peep Show, Mad Men, New Girl, Walking Dead. Since I got HBO I've been binging on that sporadically.

Food: spicy, and meat. I've been trying to dip my toes in some seafood (not literally) after a life-long aversion to it. I had an oyster recently, in addition to sushi (tuna and eel). Other than that I'm a pretty adventurous eater.
The six things I could never do without
Company, solitude, public transportation, books, sex, jokes. An ideal evening: sitting alone on public transportation reading a book of sex jokes, and then meeting friends to tell them to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why our society makes most people spend most of their time doing something they hate (working crappy jobs) so a few people can get rich, how amazing the world would be if everyone had the ability to explore the things they really love to do, if we had open borders, free mass transit, and no more wars
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I went to preschool in Nicaragua.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You are smart, kind, confident and have a great sense of humor and enjoy flexing it, and would like to change the world for the better.

Also, if you take yourself seriously. I've noticed a lot of people on here say they don't take themselves seriously. That seems sad to me. I mean, if you believe in the afterlife (which I don't), then how you act now is going to be kind of important since it will impact you for all eternity.

If you don't believe in the afterlife, then this is your one shot, so why not take it seriously!? I don't mean never laugh - laughter is ancient for a reason, and should be a part of any serious life - but I'd prefer to be with people who would like their life to mean something.
