I am making, it, and up.

My Self-Summary

I collect graph paper, make lists, dislike pancakes but love a crispy waffle, would love to roadtrip see the biggest ball of twine or Niagara falls, love a cringe-worthy reality show almost as much as PBS specials about birds, hot dogs, or flea markets (if only they would make a show about birds hot dogs and flea markets), could probably start my own library, am constantly coming up with great ideas for projects (so many ideas so little time), find that the best recipes are ones that I make up as I go along, love to learn new things, feel guilty when I sleep in too late (but considerably less guilty when there is someone else in bed with me), have a new found love for daytime tea dates, and think bacon makes lots of things taste better.

What I’m doing with my life

What do I want to do with my life - the eternal question. I think I have decided that it really doesn't have all that much to do with what job I have, but what I do with my time outside of work. I am learning new things, enjoying spending time with friends, cooking delicious things that make my house smell wonderful, smiling at strangers.

I’m really good at

baking pumpkin bread, crafting up a storm, making the perfect cup 'o tea, and cuddling, crackin' wise.

The first things people usually notice about me

stripey socks, helmet hair, and a sparkle in my eye.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

a. How about authors: Laurie Moore, Alice Munroe, Murakami, Chabon, Winterson (though lately she has been very hit or miss), Donna Tartt, Jeffrey Eugenides, Witold Rybczynski, Michael Pollan ...b. all Wong Kar Wai movies, Brick, Princess and the Warrior, the Limey, Amelie, the Pillow Book, City of God, City of Childern, Amores Perros, Pedro Almodovar movies, Juno, all those other movies that artsy people my age should like. c. Most music is acceptable, some music fits the perfect mood perfectly, then there are those artists that suck - I try not to listen to them. Brazilian Girls, Sean Hayes, Hot Chip, PJ Harvey, Dengue Fever, and Pinback have been on heavy rotation. d. pretty open to most cuisine as long as it doesn't have the shelf life of 400 years or come individually wrapped in plastic, or involve knuckle meat.

The six things I could never do without

reading a good book (1) on with the sunlight (2) coming in through the windows while drinking a glass of red wine (3). some kind of sweet and melancholy music (4) like antony and the johnstons playing in the background, my cat on my lap (5) and my love at the other end of the sofa (6). sounds pretty good - why would i ever want to do without all that?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Lately thinking about being a speicalist vs. a jack of all trades sort of person. Which is better really? Or is one better? Do I want to be the girl who bakes the ultimate pie? or the girl who cooks up all different kinds of delicious treats that are delicious, but less perfected?

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends or not hanging out with friends - depends on my mood. Possibly going to hear some music - I am trying to get out to the city more often.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I do silly and embarrassing things all of the time and rarely keep them to my self. That time I sat in bum-pee on the Bart I didn't really think it was very funny, but did I keep that horror story to myself? NO! (in fact I am telling the world now). Why do I tell you these things? Because I hope you can learn from my mistakes and because it was funny! See - now you will never sit without thoroughly inspecting your seat will you?

You should message me if

you will make me laugh, you like to hold hands, you are passionate about something and want to share it with me, you are the kind of guy who orders something sweet at brunch when I order something savory so that we can share.
