I am sincere, thoughtful, and often smiling.

My Self-Summary

Don't let my user name scare you. I intended it to mean "really nice" - which is what I try to be. I have a low tolerance for rude people.

I'm a hopeless/hopeful romantic. I know that the little things count a LOT. And I'm a sucker for romantic comedies.

I love intelligent conversation and open minds. I enjoy movies, reading, cooking, good food, and good people. Love to play games, but not with people's emotions.

I'm currently working as a graphic designer/web designer but still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

I do have one absolute love in my life right now, and she is my beautiful and talented 20 year old daughter who lives in Chicago. I get to see her several times a year and we keep in touch over the phone and online, but I miss her.

Anyway, she's awesome and the best thing that's ever happened to me, so far. :)

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to make it better! (And having success.) I am constantly learning new things. I know a little about a LOT, and each thing I learn teaches me how much I have yet to learn.

I’m really good at

Seeing both sides. Listening.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm smiling. Then they wonder why.. And then they get suspicious.. :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, philosophy, psychology and self-help stuff, just about anything by Michael Crichton (The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park), The Stand, graphic design, lettering, and art books, War for the Oaks by Emma Bull, Mark Twain, Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, the Tao te Ching, and the Bible

Movies: Napoleon Dynamite, Amelie, Kung Fu Hustle, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Groundhog Day, It's a Wonderful Life, Happy Gilmore, The Grudge (Japanese original and American remake), Serenity, The Royal Tenenbaums, Donnie Darko, Office Space, Lord of the Rings, Big, Good Will Hunting, The Razor's Edge, Aliens, Band of Brothers, Grosse Pointe Blank, Better Off Dead, Repo Man, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Joe vs. the Volcano, What the Bleep Do We Know?, The Godfather trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, and the list goes on. (Yes, I'm kind of a movie freak :)

Music: Peter Adams, Imogen Heap, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Squeeze, Boston, Crowded House, Jon Brion, The Specials, The Clash, The Stray Cats, Mozart, old jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, Lunasa (Celtic), Tom Waits, blues, bluegrass, Yann Tiersen (Amelie soundtrack among his work) ... I like lots of stuff and am always willing to listen to something new.

Foods: Belgian Beer (is that a food? ;), and my staples: meat, cheese, and bread. The good stuff. Have you ever gone to Lunds and passed the artisinal breads, imported cheeses and deli meats they have and wondered, "Who buys that stuff?" I do. Life is too short not to eat good food. Eat and drink less, but better. I'm working on the "less" part..

The six things I could never do without

Never do without? Air. Water. Food. Shelter. My mind. The ability to choose.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Seriously, what do I want to be when I "grow up?" What's my purpose? What's next? How little we really know. How fortunate and lucky I am.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out exploring. Or reading or watching a movie.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Had something private (and kind of funny) here for a while, but it seemed a little weird to have here for everyone to see. If we meet, I'll let you know what it was if you really want to know.

You should message me if

You're gorgeous and rich. No? Then if you think we have some things in common and could potentially be either long term friends, or long term lovers.
