I am a beer snob, storyteller, and a nightowl.

My Self-Summary

Please pay as little attention to the match questions as possible. I meet plenty of people in my everyday life that I see eye to eye with, who share absolutely none of my interests. I want to meet more creative –quirky- personalities that speak my language. Movies -to be more specific. I’m absolutely obsessed with the language of film. I’ve dabbled in make-up FX for a while, then did a lot of freelance work as a storyboard artist before focusing my energy on screenwriting. Hoping to converse, chat, and possibly meet artisans of all kinds. But film fanatics are preferred. So, please keep on reading and say hello when you get to the end.

What I’m doing with my life

Good question… Currently working a fairly normal job as a bartender. No, I'm not telling you where... I like it enough to continue until I can support myself thru more artistic endeavors. Most of my free time is spent writing a small independent thriller I'll hopefully be able to get into production by summer 2010. So, for now, my focus is stuck on drawing storyboards, concept illustrations, research, writing, and all the typical angst that goes along with the creative process... And I will be looking for committed actors at some point, so don’t roll your eyes at me if I ask if you do any acting.

I’m really good at

I've filled out the section three times and it always makes me squirm... Never been great at "selling myself". I prefer to let my creative work stand on its own merit. In broad terms, I'm great at making stuff up! I’m a born liar… Now doesn’t that sound awful. Haha... Bare with me on this. I'll connect the dots for ya. My fibs are limited to paper, and usually only come to life in fictional forms. The lies stay clear of my person to person relationships. There. Feel better...? Wait! Actually, that’s not true either. I'm more than a bit of a practical joker, and I'll lie clear thru my teeth if it helps me scare the wits out of someone. It’s really easy for me to read people and immediately tell what they’re afraid of. Safe to say if you don’t like to be frightened, then stay clear. Especially in October. You have been warned ;-)

The first things people usually notice about me

That's a tough one... I’ll have to guess, since I've never bothered to ask… People tend to turn their frowns into smiles within our first few seconds of conversation. Probably due to the fact I still say ma'am. –Not to mention a frequent slew of please and thankyous.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite books:
Fahrenheit 451
Jurassic Park
The Old Man and the Sea
Are the only three I've read more than twice. Most of what I read revolves around whatever project I happen to be working on at the time. Research. Mostly non-fiction. I tend to read a lot of psychology books for character development.
Movies: These aren’t the best films ever made. Just the ones that left the biggest impression…
1) Jaws
2) Harvey
3) Raiders of the lost Ark
4) Bringing Up Baby
5) The Wolf Man
6) Back to the Future
7) Close Encounters of the Third Kind
8) Vertigo
9) Jurassic Park
10) Arsenic & Old Lace
I’ll stop at ten cuz I know you have better things to do. Haha... My appetite for the medium doesn’t stop at any particular genre, language, or decade. I’ll watch pretty much anything. Though I do have a soft spot for older films from the studio era. TCM is the greatest channel on earth!

Musically, I'm all over the map. Audioslave, Q-tip, The Black Keys, Hall & Oates, Carl Orff, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young are some of the artists' currently residing in my truck's CD player –but not necessarily my favorites. Normally I just listen to KPCC.

Food: I'm not really a “foodie”. I like fresh fruit, BBQ, Italian, good beer, and pie. Tend to keep it simple, and relatively healthy.

The six things I could never do without

1) My left hand -get your head out of the gutter! I use it to write, sketch, and paint.
2) My physioball -exercise is VERY important to me.
3) Soy protein shakes –I have some awesome recipes. Ask me and I’ll send you a couple.
4) Kings Hockey -I was so miserable during that year they had the lockout.
5) Living near a large body of water –Sounds stupid, but being able to see the ocean always relaxes me.
6) Halloween -shame it only comes once a year.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

>Long term creative goals (scripts, cameras, editing software, blah, blah, blah.)
>Time travel -who doesn’t?!
>Movies I need to see.
>And yes, the occasional dirty thought slips in there throughout the day. I'm a guy!!!

On a typical Friday night I am

Working.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a Dapper Dan man!
I do own a brown coat.
And I still make it a point to head down to the comic-book store at least once every other month.

You should message me if

Having a serious love for cinema would help. But I won’t hold it against you if ya don't... Just PLEASE have a sense of humor!
