HERE'S HOW I THINK IT SHOULD WORK: If I'm intrigued by your profile, to minimize keystrokes I'll just favorite you. If you're intrigued in return, you can favorite me and then I'll write you. The 1st time I write and you don't reply will be the last time I write you. Fair enough?
I'm ready to go on my last 1st date! If you meet me you WILL laugh, and not JUST at my expense--HA! Let's talk about things that matter and have FUN doing it!
If women really and truly were primarily looking for a man to make them laugh, I'd have to beat them off with a stick.
WHAT FOLLOWS COMPRISES THE ANSWERS TO EVERY QUESTION I'VE BEEN ASKED ON THIS SITE:
I’m looking for an attractive, youthful-looking-FOR-HER-AGE woman who has a commitment to staying in shape (as I do)--or just looks like she does! I want to have MANY things in common with my mate and enough time together to thoroughly enjoy those commonalities. I am a demonstrably affectionate man and seek a woman who’s the same. She should be intelligent rather than just smart and fun without being reckless.
Unlike most men who SAY they are, I really AM 5' 10"!
For those of you afraid of the "serially monogamous", I have only been married once (1990-2006) and have never lived with a woman outside the realm of marriage.
A number of you have a BOATLOAD of things you consider red flags and deal-breakers which are counterproductive to getting to know an "otherwise" quality person. I have just five:
1. You can't be married
2. You can't be living romantically with a man
3. You can't outweigh me
4. You must have a full set of HEALTHY teeth--or just look like you do!
5. Sleeping with animals can't be part of "The Deal"
"Do you want children? Undecided/Open"
I've taken some heat for this entry, but I answered it in the spirit of what I just said above. I believe in keeping doors OPEN until they HAVE to be closed! If some rich, wonderful, beautiful 35-year-old gal just thinks I'm the greatest and wants me to be the stay-at-home dad for her children, I'd have to be a fool to say "no"--HA!
"Do you drink? No"
This is true and NO, I'm NOT a recovering alcoholic. Alcohol just doesn't take me anywhere I want to go. However, I am not a proselytizer of this attitude. If my date wants to have a few drinks and by the end of the night finds me irresistible, who am I to say "no"?---HA!
I hate the use of the word "party" as a verb, but I have fun EVERY day!
I don’t really play any sports, but I’m open to more physical activity, especially biking, 5K runs, and float trips.
I am the well-adjusted middle child of a 7-boy family (HA!).
My son, born in 2002, is an only child and lives 1/2 time with me. We attend Lutheran Sunday School/Bible Study on the weekends I have him. I have 90% of the hair God gave me and keep the gray to a minimum--Just like most of you--HA!. Many people on both sides of my family have lived unassisted well into their 90s.
BTW: I am a life-long St. Louisan, moved to Alton, IL 9/14/12 to play a bigger role in my son's life, and will be returning to Missouri in 2018 to spend the rest of my days on the green side of the grass--UNLESS someone changes my mind--HA!
AM I a good dad? WAS I a good husband? Well, my ex-mother-in-law recently wanted to fix me up with one of her other daughters...
I organize annual reunions for both sides of my family. I have visited distant relatives in Germany twice (1999 & 2001). I've had 4 years of Spanish and could probably speak the loving tongue again with the proper teacher...
I lived in a 100+-year-old house in Benton Park from 1990-2004.
As Bill Hicks once said, I'm a "reader"; mainly non-fiction. I've subscribed to Rolling Stone magazine for over 30 years.
I LOVE the Cardinals and in a perfect world would be a partial season-ticket holder and see them once each homestand, but I have other people to do that with if you don’t like to go.
I LOVE to go to the movies! I see movies at the Tivoli and I also see many popular releases. My favorite TV channel is Turner Classic Movies (TCM). My all-time favorite actor is Humphrey Bogart. My favorite living actor is Jack Nicholson. I was born on James Cagney's 58th birthday.
These are a few of my favorite things: Traveling, seeing & appreciating all there is to St. Louis--and that's a LOT! Chicago (my 2nd favorite city!), Kansas City (my 3rd favorite city!), Goody Goody, Crown Candy Kitchen, Carl’s Drive-In, Ted Drew’s, Coral Courts, Route 66, Pino’s , Pizza-A-Go-Go, Vito’s, Penny’s BBQ, Crusoe's, Cunetto’s, The Arch, Downtown St. Louis, The Big Lebowski, Old TV Shows, Shelly's Deluxe @ Fortel's, Paul Harvey, Groucho, Lime-Aid, Ting, Rib Crib, The River Road, The Fin Inn, Tivoli, Vintage Vinyl, Supporting friends in the arts & sports. Fairmont City Hot Tamales, “The Prisoner”, Home Town Buffet, Sweet Tomatoes, Gaslight Square, O'Connell's Pub, Busch's Grove, Ali-Frazier, Both Elvises, The Beatles, Dylan, Springsteen, The Holy Trinity of Buddy Holly, Bobby Fuller, & Marshall Crenshaw, The dB’s, and WAY too many other musical artists to name-check here, Springfield, MO-style Cashew Chicken, Takeout Chinese Fried Egg Sandwiches, The Golden Rule, my family (especially my son), my friends, Soulard Market.
Who would like to do the Moonlight Ramble event with me August ____, 2014? I did the Ramble in 2009 & 2010 and had a BLAST! How about the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in 2014?
Anyone want to meet me at the AMC Best Picture Showcase in 2014?
Anyone for taking swing dance lessons with me?
Are you in any MeetUp groups?
FRIENDS FIRST & ALWAYS is my policy. I would LOVE to have DOZENS of Cardinals Friends, Movie Friends, and Muny Friends. But let's face it: There HAS to be a physical connection for a NONplatonic relationship to work! So, if we like each other's profiles, lets e-mail/IM/call for a SHORT while, then meet for a one hour NON-DATE at the Steak 'n Shake/Bread Company nearest you for a beverage that I'm happy to pay for***. If we decide to do something together after that and can't keep our hands off each other, we'll know we've found what we're looking for.
OR, if you'd prefer to meet in a GROUP setting, I am a member of the following MeetUp Groups: Cardinal Nation, Computer Consultants of St. Louis, der Stammtisch, Dine Out on a Dime, Fun People Meetup -- the Fun Peeps, Meetup at the History Museum, St. Louis Sci-Fi & Fantasy Club, Singles Again, Singles Cinema, Skeptical Society of St. Louis, STL Screeners, and my FAVORITE: Urban Experiences.
On the other hand, if neither party initiates contact within 24 hours of a 1st meeting, you'll know WITHOUT asking that no connection was made---NEXT!
