My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a generally calm but sometimes rambunctious feller. I've just moved to Chapel Hill from South Carolina for a Ph.D. program in Neuroscience. Trying to balance having a social life with spending a ton of time on research, while also trying to meet someone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working my butt off, for science! Also practicing guitar and trying to work up the nerve to go to an open mic night sometime.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Guitar (maybe not *really* good, but people don't run screaming when I play - they usually go "ooh, that's nice" or some such thing), nonsequitors, science, turning whatever ingredients are around into something edible and often delicious
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably my eyes if I'm not wearing glasses, or so I've heard once or twice. Or if I'm in a bar, the pile of cherry stems nearby.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: We - Yevgeny Zamyatin, The Mote in God's Eye - Larry Niven & Jerry Pournell, the His Dark Materials trilogy - Philip Pullman, Consider Phlebas - Iain Banks, IT - Stephen King, The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks, and bunches and bunches of others.

Movies: Equilibrium, Audition, Paprika, mostly things with a good plot or music, not really a huuuuuge fan of general action movies. Aside from Die Hard. 'Cause it's Die Hard.

Shows: Fringe, Dexter, IT Crowd, Dr. Who, How I Met Your Mother. Anything funny and/or sci-fi, probably.

Music: Anything with a melody. Another Cynthia, 4 Strings, Kenna, Gemini, Shpongle, Lana Del Rey, Zircon, Evanescence, Blackmill, Before the Dawn, Blue Foundation, Sarah McLachlan, Lindsey Stirling, Sarah Fimm, Tape Five, Time is Up, Apocalyptica (Metallica on cellos? hells to the yeah!), Ellie Goulding, Glitch Mob, Metric, The Killers, Beats Antique, Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, Ronald Jenkees, blah blah blah blah. I could go on forever about music that I like.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee
music
internet
guitars
delicious foods
more coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Science atm since I spend so much time in the lab. Also random inventions, music (that I've heard, that I want to hear, that I want to make), and how to keep having a life while in grad school.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going out downtown to check out some random band I've never heard of, relaxing at home after a long week in the lab, or getting ready to go INTO the lab the next day (science all day erry day).

If you want to have rambling discussions about pretty much anything over coffee. Seriously anything, I may not know about it but I've got ideas!

Or if you play an instrument and want to mess around making music together, it can be loads of fun.
