My self-summary
FAIR WARNING: I swear I won't talk your ear off. I have a lot that I could say, but things rarely get to that point, as much as I have to hope they will.

Easygoing (wait a minute...am I?) but (perhaps infuriatingly) moral dude into punk and independent music, psychopharmacology, botany, taxonomy, animals, anthropology/archaeology, beverages, world cultures, languages, and political issues (especially migration, human trafficking, self-reliance and sustainability etc.), sanitation and ecologically healthy food production, some works of science fiction and fantasy, drawing(,) maps.

Oh, for the record, I don't like bisexual as a label. Queer's better. Anyone can own it. Also, I'll take the time to say that I could enjoy the company of women and men and possibly people in between and beyond.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a biochemist by background. But I'm most interested in the analytical chemistry, and especially ethnobotany (study of plants in their cultural contexts) and economic botany of plants (and of course chemical ecology and phytosociology!!). I've done a good bit of research on plants containing caffeine and theobromine, namely, coffee, kola, cacao, tea, guarana, and most especially hollies (like yerba mate! [and black drank]). I'm in grad school at UIC as of now, and maybe I'll work on these or other interests - native fruit, useful, and drug plants of the United States, especially. I'd like to conduct fieldwork, travel a lot, and start my own conscientious business someday.

Looks like I AM NOT gonna be funded by the Hershey (Chocolate) Company to do some of this ancient botanicals (well I'll probably just do my own thing with Peruvian pink peppercorn [molle] chicha) and whatever other work with cocoa flavonoids, stilbenoids, whatnot and vasodilation, inflamation, cardio health, etc. It seems I will be collecting plants and isolating actives from them for the National Cancer Institute (the man), hopefully in Chiapas so I can network better with the Mayan roasting coffee cooperatives down there. But in fact I'm going to end up in Indonesia. Trying as best I can also to work with the American Indian Center of Chicago (and the Chicago Botanic Garden/their Plants of Concern Program?), developing a research project together involving culturally relevant plants like the above, and finding common ground between their programming and my own.

I've been watching a lot of Archer and now Game of Thrones (I've been reading the series since high school so...) and I read a fuckton in Spanish and about world mythology (about black demons that remove virile men from their homes and place them on spikes as bridge supports, about fresh water dolphin seducers, anaconda, bird, and wolf shapeshifters, about sustenance mountains, succubi, and sleep paralysis), the environment, plant medicine, herbals, floras, the Eclectics, geography, glocal issues, and arts n crafts, otherwise. I tried germinating some maypops and other plants, but thus far transplanting has been a better option for me. Except for garlic. That's an easy one. Around the city I'm taking stock of currants and honey locusts and viburnums and sumacs and hackberries and groundcherries for una salsa verde septentrional and probably many other lovelies soon or so I hope. But that doesn't take up much of my day really, though I wish it would. Wait. It kinda does take up a lot of my time.

Trying to write my dreams down
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What Vytenis said is this: "The hand sink dumps into the same pipe as the toilet in each toilet room. All existing toilets are set up this way. You have to design the building before it is built with separate plumbing risers." Vy is a Lithuanian guy. The language of his forebears conserves features of the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European tongue that for the most part are no longer with us. Some people get by on speech nevertheless.

Similarly, drinking the water that should not be drunk - but must be! It'll change you irrevocably, for better or worse. I'd write a thesis if I were on that track. Also, (violence) taboos, like the ones for vampires.

Being a world-traveling student, scientist, amateur (as in lover of many things, a serious dabbler, a Renaissance man); I most especially am interested in working in Chicagoland, throughout the U.S., especially the East, Southeast, and Midwest, and generally in the "South" (the non-Anglosphere and similarly well-to-do countries), but I love learning about everywhere and everyone, which often enough happened at my last job. Making up for U.S.A.n atrocities and callousness somehow

Life without marriage
On a typical Friday night I am
(whatever it is I'm doing) wishing I were at home getting sloshed and watching Weezer's Video Capture Device. In particular, "Lullaby for Pat Finn / Wayne" and other little gems from the early 90's, as well as Pat Wilson's antics with socks, hands, and bottle rockets.
