"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~ Mark Twain

Hi there. Meow, lets see...a self-summary, eh? Well, I'm kinda awesome sometimes, as folks tend to be. I've been calling the Bay Area home for eight years now, and I still relishing it (even if my grumbling quota about the city has become easier to fill over the years). Its a great area to be passionate about live music, good food, and escapading in.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Enjoying the back to college experience (for a stem major), roaming the city, and taking in as much good live music as I can. Also, gongoozling. Everyone should gongoozle now and again.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Now, now; spoilers.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Apparently, that would be my eyes
Or that I look like the friend of a friend they knew back when.

Books/authors: I'm a bibliophile, so I like me my books; biographies of all sorts, Neil Gaiman, graphic novels, Fight Club, Questionable Content, The Elegant Universe, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman!, Sarah Vowell, Richard Moore, Alan Moore, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Reay Tannahill, A Gentle Madness, Carl Sagan, Michio Kaku, many, many more...

Movies: a wide variety, but for a sampling: The Legend of 1900, Kooky, Evil Dead Trilogy, Seven Samurai, MirrorMask, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Alien, Shortbus, An Adventure in Space and Time, Amelie, Lord of the Rings, The Nightmare Before Christmas, yada yada yada...

Music: well, I'll give most anything a listen to; I'm an equal opportunity music lover: Louis Armstrong, The Doors, The Beatles, Butch Walker, Glass Animals, Pink Martini, Tom Waits, Emilie Autumn, 3 Leg Torso, Three Dog Night, ERBH, Dean Martin, The Who, They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Coulton, Of Men & Monsters, Bowie, Symphony of Science, Kendrick Lamar, Mumford & Sons, Half Moon Run, The Head & The Heart, Outkast, Jagwar Ma, The Go Find, Portugal. The Man aaaand quite a few others besides. Usually try to add more via the normal Bay Area trio of fests (Outside Lands, HSB, Treasure Island)

Food: If it tastes good, I'm good with it! Nom nom nom

TV (well, TV via netflix, hulu & youtube): Bob's Burgers, Workaholics, Girls, The I.T. Crowd, Archer, Doctor Who, MST3K (the originals with Joel), GoT, Broadchurch, Animaniacs (if you didn't like this show growing up, I can only assume you were born without a soul...or didn't watch tv growing up, I suppose), Orphan Black, Sciencey shows

Podcast: Marketplace, Freakanomics, Savage Love, RadioLab, This American Life

Games: Cards Against Humanity, Settlers of Catan, Mass Effect series, Apples to Apples, most things from Bethesda Game Works.

TL;DR: I like stuff...just like everyone else.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I can't really think of anything that I could never do without (making the fairly safe assumption that what's required for general biological functions is a given on this).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pastafarianism. Russell's teapot. Cephalopods? Oh yeeeeaaaah, cephalopods. Callipygian women. Frankness. Coffee.

The universe and everything in it. Actually, I tend to get quite the nerdgasm over space...I mean, come on, it's SPACE!

How, If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the Universe.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Ya' know, going to that one thing, at that one time, over at that one place.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I cried at The Land Before Time in the theater when Littlefoot's mother died...what? It was sad.

Also, I'm using my G.I. Bill benefits to go back to school. While school doesn't take up all of my time, it is the main priority in my life at the moment. Take that how you will.

Also also, I'm sorry, but I'm most likely not going to message you first; my approach to this endeavor has evolved to become quite laissez-faire. If for some reason I have, it problems means I think you'd be a formidable frenemy.
You should message me if

Since they seem to be popular, a brief 'you should NOT message me if' section: if you are flaky or approach this whole endeavor with a 'kid in a candy shop' mentality that seems to permeate portions of the city, no thanks.
