I've spent most of my life gaining knowledge. While I have a very logical, rational side to me, the thing that drives me the most is my writing. I write for myself, but wouldn't mind being published some day.

I have a great sense of humor, but it's not immediately noticeable. My humor stems from sardonic or ironic places, and it is very dry. I love to laugh and be goofy with someone who likes laughing and being goofy.

While I believe that physical aspects of relationships are very important, I also think that body intimacy should be equal to mind intimacy. I like discussing history, politics, science, pop culture, etc.

Right now I am an owner of a small business in Clifton. We are struggling in the economy, but we've made it one whole year!

I spend a lot of time making sure my business stays open, but I am also doing other stuff...

I have written a screenplay (and have a bit-part in it) that is being produced locally this summer. Low-budget, but hopefully with film-festival worthiness.

I am writing computer software for my business. Sounds unsexy, but I might be able to sell it to other businesses of my type (we are an Internet Cafe and a coffee shop).

I have been told that I am a fantastic writer. I think that while I might be skilled, I have never been PAID for it. This is probably due to the fact that I write for myself more than I write for money. My writing is deeply personal to me.

I HAVE been paid for my computer programming work. I was a professional in the information technology field for about 10 years before I opened my own business. I treat programming like an art form...a sculpture rather than a structure like a bridge. I program computers like a Jazz musician plays the sax.

I am really good at debate. I don't view the objective of debate as proving myself right. I use debate to learn from others, to get alternate viewpoints and ideas.

I am overweight. I've been told I have expressive eyes.

I have a strong personality, but the first thing people notice about me is that I am reserved around people I don't know. Once I get warmed up, however, I can be pretty loose and goofy.

I really like everything Heinlein wrote, and I love Alastair Reynolds.
I can switch between high fantasy to hard science fiction without batting an eyelash. I also voraciously read nonfiction.

Movies -
Star Wars, Evil Dead (all 3), Akira, Saving Private Ryan, A few Good Men, Unforgiven, Fantastic Planet, etc. Pretty much any genre of film is okay with me...except Chick Flicks. (Even that has an exception...Moulin Rouge.)

Music -
I listen to anything from Celtic, World Music, SOME rap, rock and roll, Industrial, electronic music. The only 2 genres of music I can't take a lot of is gangster rap (or any rap that is misogynistic, racist, violent, glorifies drugs, etc) and country/western.

Food -
I am a meat and potatoes man. I like good, solid American food. Steak, salad, pizza, hamburgers, pasta, etc. I'm not really into seafood at all, or in exotic oriental tastes.

I can never do without the means to write.

I can not do without my dog, Fred.

I can not do without books.

I can not do without music. I need a soundtrack for my life.

I can not do without my friends and family.

I can not do without air/food/water/shelter.

I do think a lot about my business. I hope it becomes more successful so I can think a bit less about it.

I also think a lot about my current writing project. I'll often stare off into nothingness. That means I'm in another place and time with my characters.

I spend a lot of time educating myself, and integrating new facts with my old assumptions. I don't have a settled mind, nor do I think I have all the answers. I like making best guesses, though.

Resting up, catching up on sleep and hobbies. I'll probably write a bit. I work very hard during the week, so Fridays are a chance to be still and contemplate.

If there is a good movie coming out, I'll probably go to see it. I'm not really much for clubbing/dancing. I love to dance, but don't like the crush of the dance floor.

Most of all, I recharge my batteries and get myself prepared for the next week.

I am quite willing to let someone get to know me, and these kinds of details, at a comfortable pace. Once I get to a place of trust with someone, I'm pretty much an open book.

If you think you could be attracted to an overweight guy who has a strong intellectual streak.

Although I think friendship is an important component of a relationship, I am looking for a romance. I'm looking for someone who is in the same life-place that I am at, looking for a person to have a physical AND intellectual relationship with.
