optimistic, insatiable, and probably dancing
My self-summary Propose an edit
Oh, you know. A grotesque hallucinatory ambience.
I like esoteric and ridiculous interests. See: dueling keytars, sticking my lower
body out of moving cars, guerilla art, food politics, making
uterus-themed art,
vegetable
thuggery, creating and leading my own super secret societies
(Uterus Liberation
Front), literary tattoos, green hair,
purple hair, laser-pistol-slinging dinosaurs, scathingly brilliant
ideas, the smell of books, playing Scrabble in front of fires, walking on
the beach in the wee hours of the morning, genderqueers, banana-centric
desserts, vests and
ties, trying to
figure out the various notes in wine, tribal bellydancing, straight grillin',
getting tossed around, tossing others, anything involving the
water (like wiping
out while whitewater rafting or
kayaking) being
more than a little crunchy, chess as a metaphor for life, and watching
spelling bees.
I'm sort of argumentative, but it's usually
well-intentioned. I like eating food spicy enough to make my nose
run and eyes water, preferably as a first date. I have hair that
changes often. I like to engage in activities that make me sweat. I
also like the smell of sweat on people I enjoy.
I grew up overseas and have an interest
(bordering on the obsessive) with the Middle East. Leftist, if you buy that sort of thing.
Local
produce. Cruising farmers markets.
Vegan.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm letting it take me in the direction it desires. Becoming bigger
than guns, bigger than cigarettes. Progressing. Occasionally
regressing.
Dancing as much as
is humanly possible. Over-accessorizing. Digging
for vintage coats or carpet bags. Wearing bright colors
to accent my bright hair. Maintaining a healthy sense of optimism.
Recently, playing a *lot* on my banjo, which I consider to be my newfound
true love. I'm still fairly terrible, but I'll be damned if I
haven't immersed myself fully in banjo culture (did YOU know that
banjo culture existed?).
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Martial arts.
Cooking. Rugby,
sometimes. Wrestling. Arguing. Accidentally intimidating people.
Crossword
puzzles! Getting restaurant staff to answer embarassing
questions. Convincing people I'm right, even when I'm not. Injuring
myself. Causing intense reactions. Offending people. And, on a
brighter note, making people laugh and breaking down inhibitions.
Surprising people. Revealing previously undetected facets of my
personality. Looking and lurching like a zombie.
And having fun. I excel at that.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
The hair, my charming stubbornness, or the noise created by the
ridiculous number of bangles I wear.

Youngblood Brass Band, etc.
[Foods] Anything spicy enough to make my eyes water and my nose
run. Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese. Fresh pineapple. Tea. Any and
all vegetables. Everything peanut sauce. Avocados. Salads that take
an hour to eat.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Transcending limits. On that note -- my cat Hitchcock, daydreams, martial arts,
brutal honesty, an evolving personality, excellent grammar, constant evolution, my
imagination, change, surprises, new people who break
the mold, variety, chaos, order, my determination, living with
a sense of passion, a brass section.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Politics. Fantastic riffs. Gender. Cathartic moments. Skunks as
pets. All the instruments I'd like to play.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Hopefully dancing to some dirty funk or dancehall. Drinking as many dirty vodka
martinis as I can afford. Watching old TV shows (Sanford and Son and
Dragnet are sure
ways to my heart) or documentaries. Picking at my banjo.
Or karaoke.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
[x] I have a deafeningly loud interior monologue.
[x] I waste a lot of time perusing the "Missed Connections" section
on Craigslist. I find them strangely fascinating. And the thought
of finding one about me is a little thrilling in a voyeuristic,
anonymous way.
[x] I don't know how comfortable I am with the fact that people now
describe me as "bohemian."
